We (a german couple, age 57 years) have been at the Agoro Lodge for 4 days in January 2020 and used it as a base to visit different churches in the Tigray Area. We have been warmly greeted by Abebe (the manager of the Agoro Lodge) and his staff. The lodge is very charming, rooms big and nicely decorated (they also have independent huts), hot good shower, comfy beds ... Each evening it has been a great pleasure to come back to this peaceful place after the exhausting sightseeing days. And since the place has been so nice and reposing I even decided to have a full day of rest at the lodge with books, good coffee, nice lunch ... Before we booked we were reading several reviews and there have been also some negative once, which nearly hold us back booking at the Agoro Lodge. Having been at the Agoro Lodge I really think, they are totaly misplaced. One should never forget that we are in Ethiopia and should adjust to the country. If people are not able to do so and are expecting things to be like in their country, they should best stay in their country. We want to thank again Abebe and his staff for the wonderful time we spend at the Agoro Lodge. Karin and Mike

Sehr schönes Hotel in den Bergen von Adigrat mit sehr schöner Aussicht auf die Stadt. Die Zimmer sind sehr großzügig und sauber, sehr modern eingerichtet. Das Frühstück ist gut. The Hotel is very nice, the rooms are big and clean. The staff is very friendly. The breakfast is included and good.

Our stay in the Hohoma hotel was a completely unexpected pleasant surprise. We went after a terrible night's sleep at the Eve hotel. The Hohoma is a family affair, run by an amazingly enthusiastic father son duo. There rooms are an absolute bargain. They come with a great beds, TV, spotless bathrooms and balconies. If anything is even slightly wrong, father or son will appear and fix it for you. Best of all though must be the owners friendliness, both to guests and their wonderful pet dog Pokey who is always wandering around somewhere.

Rooms are clean & most of the time there's water coming out of the shower (which is a luxury in Adigrat), but there is noise pollution coming from inside & outside the hotel. The restaurant is right under the hotel rooms; at 6am and sometimes before that, the restaurant staff starts preparing the restaurant with a lot of noise, and also often they will bring a fresh sheep inside which is bleating because it knows it's going to be killed. Above the hotel room, there's a big meeting room; when the Ethiopian government workers are having a meeting in the morning, the hotel staff will prepare the meeting room starting from around 5am, which will promptly wake you up. From outside, there also noise coming from a night club opposite the hotel. Especially when you sleep in a street side room and the music is on, it's difficult to sleep before 2am. If you want a more quite place to sleep, consider Gebreselassie hotel.

The rooms in this hotel are enormous. Our bed was a true king; we had a sofa and plush chair and coffee table; a desk; a wardrobe and other places to put things. There is also a large flat screen tv and a refrigerator. The shower was huge, although we never managed to have hot water. The rest of the bathroom is small, but it works. The late lunch of salad and soup we had, as well as the breakfast, were all good. The major problem is that the wi-fi in this hotel only works in the lobby, when it works. And, there is no Ethio Telecom service below the 2nd floor. In addition, they do not provide laundry service at this hotel.
