Wellsboro is a borough in Tioga County, Pennsylvania, United States, 52 miles (84 km) northwest of Williamsport. Early in the 20th century, Wellsboro was the shipping point and trade center for a large area. It had fruit evaporators, flour and woolen mills, a milk-condensing plant, marble works, saw mills, foundry and machine shops, and manufactories of cut glass, chemicals, rugs, bolts, cigars, carriages, and furniture. In 1900, 2,945 people lived here; in 1910, 3,183 lived here. The population was 3,328 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Tioga County, and also home to the Grand Canyon of Pennsylvania.

Rode the trail in Oct. It is fine crushed limestone. Somewhat easy to ride bikes on. Fairly flat. No holes to dodge. We rode 15 miles round trip including climb to the falls.
We parked at Darling Run. Rode to Turkey Path Trail. Climbed up short distance to the falls. There are steps a majority of the way. Then we rode to Tiadaghton Camping Area. Nice place to stop with restrooms and picnic tables.
Wished we had more time to ride more of the trail.

I prefer Leonard Harrison SP to Colton Point SP due to Leonard Harrison has more vistas and user friendly with walkways, flush toilets, gift shop and food truck(try the Maple Cotton Candy). With that said, please do still visit Colton Point, as you do, obviously, have a different scenic view that can't be missed. One of the must see Pennsylvanian State Parks!

Took a drive to Pennsylvania Grand Canyon and discovered the scenic Colton Point State Park, it makes sense to visit this park and Leonard Harrison State Park in one day. October is the best time to go, still warm and the colours are magnificent. There are a few camping sites here and Picknic tables to enjoy a meal out but the hiking routes are not marked out well so you might be a bit lost due to lack of quality signs. The parking lots at the few scenic points are rather small but views over the Pine Creek are spectacular.

This short and easy hike was a pleasant break from my auto touring last July. East walking and about two hours leaving time for pondering life and enjoying the views.
Lake Side Trail - 3 miles - Beginning at the entrance to the camping area this trail follows the lake shore in a westerly direction for about one mile, finally arriving at the Beaver Hut Boating Area. A beaver house plus many signs of beaver activity may be seen in this area. From the boating area the trail generally follows the lake shore in a southerly direction for about one mile, ending at the dam breast of Hills Creek Lake. This section of the trail offers an excellent variety of bird life attracted by seeds from white spruce, red-osier dogwood and viburnums that dominate this moist area. The trail then parallels the park road through Picnic Area No. 1 and passes the park office. It ends at a parking lot beyond the gate on the main entrance road, a distance of about 0.5-mile.

Pennsylvania train rides.
Best part of the train excursion were the Servers, very pleasant and very efficient. Dinner was good, choice of pork Tenderloin or chicken cordon blue. Scenery was just OK, no narrative, just a lot of weeds and one area with a view of a reservoir in Tioga. The dining car had more room than expected.

You drive past Canyon Country Campground and it is next to campground. Follow their signs to find the road (Wilson Rd) off of 660. Right where 660 makes a 90 turn. Turn right through metal gates and drive to tower. Very close to Leonard Harrison State Park.
Yes it is $3.00 per person. Credit or debit only. But it is worth it. You are above trees and can see for miles. No you can't see into the gorge.
Tower and steps are sturdy. Bench to sit on at the top. It is covered.
