This museum houses one of the largest private collections of Oz memorabilia in the world.
In my quest to hit different and obscure highlights, I stopped at the OZ museum. What a delightful attraction. As always, these little adventures provide such insight into the background and history of one of America's most loved movies. Ironically, I volunteer as an usher...MoreWe are glad you enjoyed our museum and got a more in depth understanding of the Oz world. Thank you for the review!

12 acre park with 2 acre fishing pond and modern playground. Several features to note: working Dutch Windmill (1879), statues from 1893 Chicago World's Fair (read: Devil in the White City). The Wamego Museum and historical village is nearby and morphed with the park. Children's train and depot. The park is the epicenter for festivals (Tulip festival, OZ Fest, 4th of July, etc).
Must see this beautiful park while in town! Great location for a picnic, writing, or photography. There is a neat miniature railroad through the park, an old Dutch windmill, and multitudes of gorgeous flowers. Be sure to bring your camera!

The wines we tasted were good, nothing amazing. We bought a bottle for a souvenir. However the staff there were fake nice and rushed us quite a bit. I felt like they wanted us to taste and leave as soon as possible. Not sure why it would be like that in a place like that, but it rubbed me the wrong way. Probably won't be back.

The Wamego Historical Museum is a local treasure. For a small admission price, visitors have access to four buildings packed with dozens of exhibits pertaining to Wamego's past. Admission also includes a guided tour through the museum complex's prairie village (log cabin, telephone museum, jail, general store and school) and INSIDE the city's iconic Old Dutch Windmill.
Special features of the museum, located in Wamego's lovely city park, include two mint-condition Chrysler-product cars (1949 & 1950), in honor of Chrysler Corporation founder Walter P. Chrysler, who was born in Wamego in 1875, and a real mounted buffalo.
The museum is open every day (closed Mondays during the winter). It's well worth a visit any time of year.

I went here because my son-in-law has Beechers in his family history. The story of the church is interesting, at least for a quick visit. It was closed when I was there, but the signage and available information was good enough to be worth the trip if you are going to Wamego anyway.

Beautiful restored theater. We listened to the Diamond W Wranglers for hour and half program that was most enjoyable. I imagine they have some great programs in this theater. Everyone in Wamego had a smile on their face and very friendly. Great weekend. Thanks for the awesome review! We would love to have you back for one of our stage productions.
