SO much fun at the speedway. And the spectators so nice explaining to this newbie what was going on. Be sure to buy the ear muffs. Lots of action and car crashes if you're into that.

The Prizery

The Prizery is an arts and cultural center located in a 38,000 square foot building that is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as part of the South Boston Historic Tobacco Warehouse District, and is considered to be the most architecturally prominent and interesting of the 15 buildings in the 20 acre district. Renovation began in 2002, and the facility includes a welcome center, a performing arts theatre, an art gallery, classrooms and a large space for community functions. Today the Prizery plays host to performers from throughout the world in the 250-seat Chastain Theatre, exhibits art in the Robert F. Cage Art Gallery, provides venues for events and rentals, houses a Revolutionary War exhibit called the Crossing of the Dan, and makes a wide range of classes available - from music to art.

What a wonderful place in a small town. So many great theater shows, musical events, and art events in a renovated tobacco building that is so interesting. There are often Broadway type shows with not a bad seat in the theater. You feel like you are part of the show with such great energy and effort by the performers. Tickets to the various shows are not expensive and well worth it. There are also some great spaces available to rent for special occasions like weddings or reunions. The Prizery also has children's programs with a focus on lots of imagination and creativity. Such a great community and area resource and destination for locals and visitors!
