We have been coming here for five years as a couple, and I came as a solo traveler for two years before that. Spring Gathering is a chance to connect with other artists while focusing on your own project for an uninterrupted week. I’m a quilter; he’s a writer. We LOVE it here! It’s not for the luxury seeker, nor for the fussy. It’s for people who want to connect with their thoughts in the loveliest mountain surroundings imaginable.

Such a cool place! Fantastic espresso drinks..... and coffee too. Lots of excellent sweets for getting an afternoon high with your Macchiato. Friendly staff and a comfy place to sit on the front porch and enjoy

Just off the Blue Ridge Parkway, about 1 hour from Asheville, NC, is Emerald Village, North Carolina’s #1 gem mining attraction! Go underground in a real mine at the NC Mining Museum. See old mining equipment and displays, and enjoy the splashing waterfall! Tour the Company Store, re-creating an old mining town. Visit Discovery Mill, with free displays, including the Music Museum, the Homestead Museum, the Blue Ridge model railroad display, and gift and snack shops. Spend time at our spectacular Gemstone Mine where you’ll have “buckets” of fun searching for real gems. Find colorful gems and keep them all! We also offer custom gem cutting, jewelry making, Gold Panning, night time Black Light mine tours, digging for minerals and digging for emeralds at the world-famous Crabtree Emerald Mine! You’ll have a gem of a day! Open April 1st through October 31st.
We had stopped at other "Gem Mines" and all they wanted was for you to buy a bucket and pan for your valuable rocks. This place was more than that and offered a real glimpse into the past and the mining industry. We were so happy we followed the signs to get here. It's off the beaten path a bit but don't worry, you'll be rewarded. The museum and the grounds are well worth the price of admission.
