My first visit to old Nick Williams, unfortunately was just a quick visit on a Sunday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised... my first impression was very low-key and very welcoming ..In a strange sort of way I felt like I was being treated like a neighbor in for a visit and a drink..lol.. when I finally approached the bar to ask questions I was met with a fantastic bartender I wish I could remember her name and she was extremely informative about the products.. I decided to order the house moonshine the bourbon and cinnamon infused whiskey... with my son and I being amateur whiskey drinkers we delved in to the old Nick Williams... my first impression of the moonshine was absolutely fantastic and very different then we moved on to the bourbon although very young has tremendous potential and can’t wait for a five-year-old to come out .. and last but not least the infused cinnamon whiskey and was pleasantly surprised how tasty it was.. it definitely was not cheap cheap ass fireball wannabe... and last but not least the cocktails were absolutely fantastic my son had a whiskey sour and it was perfect.. I will definitely visit there again.. and can’t wait to try some of their future whiskeys as they mature in age..

Rolling hills and lush, green pastures were among the relaxing scenery that accompanied us to Medaloni Cellars. Once on the property, we could see the appeal. This Yadkin Valley vineyard and winery is nestled on 22 acres of land and includes two tasting areas, a variety of fantastic lounging/sitting areas, a playground for kids, three overnight cabins, a wine trail, places for feathered friends, food trucks, and more. With unique spaces for weddings and events, they have so much to offer! Greeters stationed throughout the property guide guests to the tasting room parking area. While in the tasting room, attention to detail is evident. Garage style doors open to the side, providing tons of natural light and beautiful views. A long, wooden table drifts down the middle of the room, inviting guests to sit and visit for a while over a glass of wine. If cooling off from a breeze isn’t your cup of tea, maybe getting cozy by the large stone fireplace would be the ideal a spot for you. It’s obvious that a lot of thought and care went into creating a space that would appeal to many. In fact, Sundays are typically the day for their “regulars” in which anywhere from 100–200 guests will visit and unwind, about 60% of which are regulars. Although Medaloni was busy, everyone was incredibly friendly and the feeling throughout our visit was one of relaxing with friends. Check their calendar of events for live music, food trucks, and other special activities.

A friend took me to Westbend Winery and Brewery midday on Friday for my birthday for a wine tasting. Since it was in the middle of the day on a workday, there were very few attendees, but those that were there gave the place a good people vibe. Though there were plenty of seats at the bar, my friend and I stood for our wine tasting experience. Our sommelier was well versed in each wine he offered us and presented each in a professional and enjoyable way. It was clear that he had a real passion for the wines and the story behind the origin of each one. I personally have a sweeter pallet when it comes to wine; to my delight, our tasting guide found a perfectly sweet dessert wine for me to have. In contrast, my friend's taste runs more towards dry reds. She was offered a wider selection with her preference and was happy with her choice. We packed a nice cheese, meat, and cracker picnic to enjoy while her dog frolicked about. So, after we finished our wine tasting, we went outside to enjoy the day. My friend brought her dog who was kindly welcomed inside and offered water by the Westbend employees. He was even allowed off-leash to play frisbee in the large, open field behind the building. Granted, it was a slow day, so his off-leash adventures may have been only permitted situationally. But, if you have a well-behaved dog and other guests are open to it, it may not be a problem on more busy days.
