6 Things to Do in Kuta That You Shouldn't Miss

September 1, 2017 Oliva Fomby

Kuta boasts the best beaches in Bali, a five-mile stretch of clean sand that is a magnet for surfers and sunbathers. When that golden sun goes down, the animals come out—the party animals, that is. Kuta nightlife is almost frantic, as global tourists bounce from restaurant to nightclub in an effort to soak up the Kuta experience like a well-dressed sponge.

Bali Sea Turtle Society

Reviewed By SHILPI D - New Delhi, India

When mankind wreaks havoc on nature and society, few good people collectively come to protect nature. Hence Bali Sea Turtle Society was formed with an objective to protect marine life and contribute towards saving the planet. The conservation site has thousands of baby turtles in a place along with eggs ready to hatch. Each turtle is marked for release in the sea, ofcourse leaving it on its own fate. Every evening turtles are released in the sea and tourists participate in the activity free of cost. They are given baby turtles in a container and all of these are released in one go. Cheering up the tiny creatures and seeing them take their first plunge in water is a priceless experience. Kudos to the Sea Turtle Society for the efforts they are making. They also educate people about the life cycle and biology of Turtles and how they influence marine life. The center is open all days from morning through evening, but the activity of releasing turtles takes place at 4 pm daily at Kuta Beach, close to the center.

Lots of surfers here trying to catch the perfect wave and you can take a class for around 250,000 IDR (Bargain hard). Beach chairs available which can be rented for 50K for 2 hours. Some cafes nearby as well if you are looking for drinks/snacks.

I the main hub of the Kuta main street shopping area, is a small triangle of concrete known as ground Zero. Its surrounded by traffic, shops, and the never ending surge of locals and tourists going about their daily routines, you can miss it if your in traffic. Its a meeting point for locals surviving to make a $, tourists shopping and snapping pictures. This area is sacred ground to a tragedy that happened to many families and especially locals in 2002. Its a place to pay respect and reflect on our own mortality. A must visit for for all.

We visited many of Bali’s Beaches on our recent holiday and unfortunately most we found to be a little dirty and nothing to rave about.
Pandawa Beach was one of the exceptions. Absolutely beautiful and clean and not overly busy with tourists. The water was refreshing and calm.
Definitely recommend.
