This recently restored structure dates from the 1880s.
A classic opera house that has been a working entertainment venue since the 1800s. It was a vaudeville theater, a movie theater and now a live performance theater (they also host bingo nights). We had a great experience because the woman who works there showed us the whole building - back of the stage, the lower level, the balcony and projection room - and gave us the history at the same time. We particularly appreciated her taking so much time with us given that the place was scheduled to close for lunch just after we arrived. The house is beautiful, highlighted by a reproduction of its old time vaudeville curtain that was recreated based on a photograph by a design firm in Minnesota. Definitely a stop if you are in Eureka.

Located on the site of what was once Eureka's local newspaper headquarters, the County Historical Society Museum preserves the old printing presses and also serves as the town's visitor information center.

The historic building is still a working courthouse and they have a very laid-back attitude toward you just wandering around in it. We were able to sit in the judge's chair in the main room, look at his chambers and conference room and photograph the classic building inside and out. There are a few explanatory signs (for example explaining the history of Nevada's Silver Party) but basically you are self-guided. It is a beautiful building and well worth a stop if you are in Eureka.
