I went to see the Murals on the morning of Friday June 5, 2020 and found that the dirt road leading to the Murals had been nicely re-graded recently. I was able to drive all the way up to the Murals in my 2014 Hyundai Sonata, and the Sonata does not have very high ground clearance. So If I can make it easily- most others should have no issue. And it was simple to find the murals. Once you get off the paved road you simply follow the dirt road back about a mile and a half. When you're getting close to the murals there is a Y fork in the road, and you go left. (Take the left fork). A little way past that fork there is a little fairly steep rise in the road, and the murals are just a short distance past that rise. (Just beware of vehicles that may be coming from the other direction of the rise.) I recommend wearing long pants when visiting the murals. You can see the murals well from the road. But they are surrounded by wild scrub, bushes etc, And there are rough paths through the brush, but the brush is still thorny, prickly, scratchy. So if you want to get up closer to them or hike around the area at all long pants and boots might be a good idea. Wouldn't be shocked if I came across a snake in the area. I enjoyed a short visit to the Yesterdays Steakhouse for a quick beer & lunch afterwards. Was a nice place with friendly people there. And across the street from the restaurant & hotel was the city park, and an old western mock up town where I guess they do re-enactments & gunfights at "Cyanide Springs". But that wasn't up & running at the time I went. (Most of the town was still closed up due to Covid issues) All in all I found Chloride and the Murals to be a good way to kill a couple of hours and check something else to be seen in Western Arizona off my list.

Chloride is Arizona's oldest continually inhabited mining town. About 350 people live here today. While it is not a ghost town, it can feel like it because it is so super quiet. This is definitely NOT Oatman, and we like it that way! Drive around town and look at the old houses, some of them with elaborate rusty metal yard art. The Jim Fritz Museum (owned and managed by the Chloride Historical Society), just east of the park) is open every Saturday from about 11 am to 12 pm or 1 pm. Gunfight reenactments by the High Desert Drifters on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month at High Noon. Great photo opportunities. There is a store (Mineshaft Market), a US Post Office, some tiny shops, and two restaurants as well as a park with covered area and playground. Karaoke on Saturday afternoons at Yesterdays Restaurant. The cemetery outside of town is one of the state's oldest. Enjoy the quiet atmosphere, the wildlife wandering through town, and the clean air. Interested?
Enjoy the old town and the great home town vibe with the locals! Stayed at Sheps Miners Inn - highly recommend it! And Yesterdays cafe was fantastic food and service at good prices. (note everything in this town closes at 5pm 7days a week)

This quirky little shop/studio specializes in homemade vegan soaps and silversmithing. The owner sells her own jewelry and soaps along with new and vintage items. There are selections of cabochans to choose from for a custom piece. You may also order a whole loaf of soap. The shop/ studio is small but has an eclectic punch.
