Eager boxing fans created this museum devoted to the sport.
I don't know if people in the area understand what they have here. In a tiny town, but directly off the NYS thruway and a measly 25 minute drive from Syracuse, you have a spot that encompasses the history of boxing. The hall of fame itself is very small but packed with history and memorabilia. This is the one and only boxing hall of fame. Muhammad Ali has been here. Sylvester Stallone, Mike Tyson, and Sugar Ray Leonard as well. These megastars had to travel to Canastota, NY and they all did it. For a boxing fan this is every bit as legitimate as the Cooperstown baseball hall of fame. The only difference is that it's much smaller and not as crowded, which was actually a plus for me. They have a separate building for the gift shop (which is actually significantly bigger than the museum part) that also feature the Madison Square Garden ring which is probably the crown jewell of the place.

Great Swamp Conservancy is a nature center with pathways outside through the meadow, woods, and swampy areas. You'll want to wear your boots! Bring your binoculars for wildlife viewing. Trails are opened throughout the day. You probably won't be able to get through the areas with a stroller or wheelchair. No fee. They also offer educational programs through the year and have Spring and Fall Migration Festivals.
