My wife loves old houses. This is supposed to be the oldest house in the state. So we went to visit the Wolf House on a recent vacation. This house is located in a very pretty and nice little community called Norfork. It is located near a river which made it a very useful dwelling/courthouse/etc during it`s time. Mr. Wolf and his family built and lived in this place for many years and played an important role in Arkansas history. If you are interested in old houses or Arkansas history or beautiful river scenery this is a very nice area to visit

Everyone was friendly and helpful. Lots of little stores to explore and find wonderful treasures. Large cedar rocking chair in which to take a photo. The restaurant (Printing Press Cafe) has really good sandwich and salad lunch for less than $10.

We walked along the paved path and enjoyed the views. We saw the waterfalls, mirror lake, and watched the trout jumping. A great place to relax and have a picnic. Toured this area after viewing Blanchard Springs Cavern.

We booked an 8 hour trip and were lucky enough to get Bill Terry himself to take us out fishing. We got so spoiled by the end of the day that if it took longer than a minute or so to get a bite we started to wonder what was wrong! Not all were keepers by any means but just as fun to reel in. You never knew what you'd get because the little ones fight just as much as the big ones. We came back with our limit of 5 a piece and had fresh trout for dinner. They clean the fish for you any way you'd like also.
Bill takes alot of pride in his business and customer service is a priority. He made sandwiches and brought chips and a variety soda and water along. He showed us a lot of the pretty parts of the rivers and saw Eagles diving down to grab their trout meal. Above the cost of the trip is a fuel surcharge and any bait used. Plus a tip of course.
Bill also offers 4 hr trips, fresh cooked Shore lunches, unguided boat rentals and guided scenic boat rides. Just remember to take sunscreen along (we learned this the hard way!)

We visited on a Sunday afternoon so the museum was not open. We walked around the little main street and were encouraged at the signs of revitalization. There were several antique shops there that looked interesting and I would like to visit again. They have done a good job of posting historic markers and we spent about a half hour walking around, reading the markers and looking at the old buildings. The town is built on a high bluff overlooking the river, and it is also worth a drive up into the residential area behind the main street.

To get to this bluff requires going down a crushed limestone road that is very dusty, but it is worth it to get to a beautiful view of the White River and the surrounding countryside.
The rock itself is very interesting; lots of silica so in spots it appears to be covered in sugar. :) We found prickly cactus plants growing there also.
THERE IS NO RAILING, or any other safety features to block the view. Do not bring small children here.
Google has it on their maps but they are a bit off where you actually access the bluff. Look for a small parking area with squared-off boulders to the right.
