Čakovec (Croatian pronunciation: [tʃâkoʋets]; Hungarian: Csáktornya; Latin: Aquama; German: Tschakathurn) is a city in northern Croatia, located around 90 kilometres (56 miles) north of Zagreb, the Croatian capital. Čakovec is both the county seat and the largest city of Međimurje County, the northernmost, smallest and most densely populated Croatian county.

This is where in the early Middle ages emerged Cakovec.
The outer part is the fortress, unfortunately, with the time part of it was demolished, but the preserved is main entrance with surrounding walls. The inner part is a beautiful Renaissance palace.
There is a very rich museum, exhibits are from the Paleolithic to the present time, and it has a magnificent ethnographic collection and a very rich gallery.
Also worth a look is a beautifully decorated wedding hall which certainly remained in good memory of many generations of inhabitants of Cakovec.

Čakovec, in the small Međimurje County of Croatia, doesn't get the tourist visits it deserves and information on the town is a bit sparse (and not always accurate). The main site to visit in town is the Zrinski Castle and there are notable churches and museums.
The Trgovački kasino (or Commercial Casino), which is also known as the Zgrada Doma sindikata (indicating its use as a Trade Union Hall after 1945), is an attractive but strange looking building built in 1903 in a 'Hungarian Secession' style. Some websites and guide books claim the architect was "the notable Ödön Horvath", but as Ödön von Horvath was a famous writer, this seems improbable! Maybe his name was confused with Ödön Lechner, who was perhaps the greatest Hungarian architect of the period (sometimes called the Hungarian Gaudi). I haven't found any evidence for this but I suppose it is just possible.
The building was firmly closed when we visited, so we couldn't see inside. It is on a pleasant pedestrianised street where open air cafés and pubs abound. It is next to a large park with playground facilities.
Not worth travelling a huge distance to see, perhaps, but well worth seeing if you are in the area.

We waited 1h between food courses. Food is good, stuff are sometimes nice..It depends on number of guests. Interior is a bit shabby for my taste but the surrounding is really pretty. But if u are already there its nice place to grab a bite.
