Enjoyed our visit and samples. Very knowledgeable and outgoing owners. They have many interesting flavored wines in addition to the base offerings.

A 6,000-acre park located along the shore of Lake Guntersville. Offering swimming, boating, tennis, 18-hole golf course, hiking, Nature Center, cottages, chalets, and campground. The State Park offers eagle viewing field trips, seminars and special programs ea Jan-Feb
The park is very beautiful and the picnic pavilions are perfect for groups. Good upkeep. The lake was the best feature. The lodge is very clean and well kept, but the entire place was freezing. The lobby, the restaurant, and even our room was 62 degrees, which had no blankets available in the room. We were late meeting family while we waited for our room to warm up in order to shower. We were miserable every where we were inside the lodge! The halls need the cobwebs removed. The best part was being outside all day with family!
The food in the lodge could use improvement as there looked to be much deep fried selections.

Located in a historic armory, the Guntersville Museum offers history and culture of the region with artifacts, gems and minerals, art, and local flavor. Hours: Tu-F 10 a.m.-4 p.m., Sa-Su 1-4 p.m. Closed Mondays. Free.
This is a small, but very interesting museum. Two volunteers greeted me and were so informative and friendly. I had a special interest (Will Rogers) and they looked up and showed me more information in a book. They have extensive indigenous artifacts, a lovely mineral collection, and history about the local area. The building, a WPA project from the 30s was an old armory, and worth seeing unto itself. Definitely worth a stop.

Strongly recommend making a reservation - especially on a weekend! We did the night before and time slots were full when we arrived on Sunday afternoon. The weather had been questionable but was gorgeous during our time on the lines.
We started out with Nick, Ashley and Matt as guides for our group of 10. Most were 1st timers, including a couple younger girls. As usual, we had a little slower start getting everyone off the first perch but it was pretty smoth sailing from there.
Some zipline outfits have automatic braking but Screaming Eagle is all hand braking BUT it was never an issue, even on the huge level 2 lines. The level 1 part of our tour was very good, included some longer lines and a few bridges. Certainly worth the price but we split off towards the end with the level 2 group while the level ones (3 of the 10 along with guides Nick and Ashley) did a few other lines to get them back to base camp.
Matt continued along as our guide (he was a newer guide but extremely nice and very good) and was joined by Jilly who was definitely an experienced guide and ready to handle any situation on the long level 2 lines (she's featured in the 4/22/17 facebook video about Phase II opening.
After a couple more lines, a bridge, ladder and tightrope, we arrived at the first long lilne where we would reach speeds of 50 mph! SO AMAZINIG! It was from one hilltop to the next which gave you an amazing view of Lake Guntersville. It's a little intimidating making that first leap onto a line that long, but after watching Jilly take off, we were all ready for the time of our lives! In level one, you basically zipped from perch to perch but here we landed on the ground and moved on to our next line. We had a short stop in a shelter with drinking water available, then headed up a tower with 144 steps to take our next line.
WHAT A VIEW!!! Waiting for each person to go was wonderful as we had time to look around and enjoy the view. Then we were off on another amazing long line. The return on our 3rd line brought us to a short hike to the same tower where we took our 4th super long line. With these high speeds, you may think braking would be an issue but it really was the opposite.
The lines are very well set up so it was more of an issue of making it all the way, which a few didn't. But that wasn't a show stopper - if it was a short way, you could just hand over hand yourself in or if it was a little longer, the guide would put a rope bag on the line to send out to you, which you would grab on to and then they would pull you in.
In addition to great guides and lines, they had an excellend system that made you feel totally safe on the lines - you were NEVER unattached when in the air so safety was a given. Couldn't have asked for a better day.

North Alabama's premiere kayaking outfitter. Guided trips, professional instruction and rentals
Phil Walton, the owner, is a very knowledgeable and qualified guide. His selected trips showcase the amazing beauty of Northern Alabama. This was my second experience with UnPhiltered Kayaking.
My first was a foundational lesson a few years ago, which has allowed me to enjoy kayaking in many other regions with confidence. This trip was mostly an exploration, viewing the start of fall colors, but also bald eagles, blue heron and the beauty of Guntersville.
I brought a friend who was newer to kayaking and she embraced all the advice that was given to her on the trip, leaving the 5.75 mile trip addicted to a new sport. Her concerns about the trip length did not last long, with encouragement from Phil and staff. If you are looking for a relaxing and personalized experience in the beautiful Lake Guntersville area, plan your trip with Phil.
