This historic Elizabethan house (circa 1587) features a serpentine park that was designed by Lancelot Brown and a gothic greenhouse and stables.
An amazing house with wonderful interiors and very fine art. I think we saw 32 rooms and every one contained items of beauty and great interest. Right from the start we received a warm welcome (worth mentioning Jack who was so friendly and helpful). So much to see. Spent over 3 hours here taking it all in. I recommend this place and also recommend you allow enough time to take a leisurely look at everything. This is not a place to be rushed.

Stamford is a great half way stop just off the A1 motorway if you happen to be travelling North. There is easy parking in a large lot next to the Town Meadows. Traffic was quite busy getting through the main town on a Sunday but it was well worth it. You can picnic on the town meadows where there are picnic tables available. Enjoy a stroll through the stone town with its lovely church spires and lanes to explore. There are cafes and restaurants to enjoy. A very pleasant stop of our journey North.

The Yard is an indoor play centre and cafe dreamed up by two local mums who craved a place that appealed to adults and children alike. Children have the freedom to explore the large play structure safely in their own environment, under 2's have a designated space to explore and grown ups can enjoy fresh coffee, grilled cheese sandwiches and sweet treats sourced from local suppliers
We visited the yard with friends to have fun on a rainy day. It was a bit tricky to find and car park is not really good. Only 4 spaces then it has to be street parking. The soft play area is very spacious, the tables laid out all around it makes it easier to spot your children. My friends and I enjoyed a cheese toastie (lots of different ones on the menu). The children enjoyed a lunch box served in a little shopping basket which is super cute! The cake selection is amazing and they taste good. The staff was ever so friendly. We stayed for about 3 hours and it was a fabulous find! We'll come again!
