Ellicott City is an unincorporated community and census-designated place, along with being the county seat of local government in Howard County, Maryland, United States. It is part of the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. The population was 65,834 at the 2010 census. Founded in 1772, the town contains the B. & O. Railroad Museum's branch at the Ellicott City Station, built in 1830 as the first terminus of the initial line. The downtown historic district is located in the valley of the small Tiber River, with its east end abutting the Patapsco River, which forms the Baltimore County line. As of the 2000 census, Ellicott City surpassed Towson (county seat of neighboring Baltimore County) for the first time, as the largest unincorporated county seat in the country.

My wife and I took our mini poodle Marley for the Blessing of the Animals. The facility is beautiful with rolling hills and gorgeous landscaping. The priests were very thoughtful and friendly with all the pets.

The B&O Ellicott City Station Museum is the oldest surviving train station in America, also many would argue that it is also the first station in America in general. The station was originally established as Freight Station only with passengers loading and unloading from a platform attached to the second story of the hotel that once existed across the street from the platform. In the 1850's the B&O decided to transform the station for passenger use as well as freight. The station was also an important transportation hub during the civil war moving both supplies and troops for the Union. The station continued as a passenger station until December 31st 1949 and as Freight Station until the 1970's. The station was than converted to a museum and is listed under the National Register of Historic Places. The management of the Museum has changed throughout the years, with Howard County Recreation and Parks taking over management from the site in September of 2017
A great stop for history buffs and train enthusiasts. The extensive miniature train set fills a huge room and tells the story of the first 13 miles of the B&O. They have replica of the towns along the way built in their original fashion. The trains turn on and move along the tracks. There is a trolley in miniature and a full caboose to climb into which is a great photo opportunity. The main building has a lot of history and original clothing and furniture. The gist shop is cute and restrooms clean and available. The caretakers were very kind and helpful. Love the train bandanas they wear - very much like an old time conductor. The donation of $3 was well worth the visit. Parking is nearby. As an outreach they are looking to record personal stories from previous employees of the B&O Ellicott City contact info: [email protected] We would visit again in a heartbeat.

As my title says, it’s not the area in Ellicott City. I’ve been coming to this part of Patapsco Park for 20 years and just today took a new trail that was far less populated which was good for walking my dog-aggressive dog. The river became wide and unshaded toward the end of Cascade Trail(not to be confused with Cascade Falls Trail which is a different beauty). We were surprised by a snake so beware of that in the green next to the water. An easy asphalt flat walk with lots of sights!

Lake trail is about 2.5 miles long so it's nice for running a few laps around. Also there are restrooms and water fountains so it's great if your out running and need to take a break. Family fun here too and great fishing would recommend if your in the area to check if out.

In addition to the many animals in our petting farm, we are home to many of the attractions from the Enchanted Forest. We have pony rides, hay wagon rides, a cow train ride, the petting farm, the Enchanted Forest attractions, additional play areas, and a picnic area. We also have a pumpkin patch in the Fall. We are open to the public April 1 through early November, Tuesday through Sunday, 10 AM to 5 PM (last admission at 4 PM). We host school and group tours, birthday parties and group events also. On many weekends we have special activities and gem mining and geode cracking.
Our kids, and now a generation later, our grandkid love Clark's Elioak Farm. There is so much to see and do there - the petting zoo, cow train, hay rides, pony rides, play area, and, of course the charming Mother Goose structures from the old Enchanted Forest. Even our 1 year old grand daughter loves it. In addition to all of the regular fun things to do, they gear up for Halloween! There is a large pumpkn patch where you can select pumpkins and a great maze (easy and not scary for little ones). This is such a great place for family visits.
