Now that casinos have spread in South Africa, Sun City is no longer the only gaming hotspot in the country, but it's still visually dramatic. Located two hours from Johannesburg, it's a sprawling complex of luxury hotels, restaurants and Vegas-style shows on the edge of Pilanesberg Game Reserve.

I was in Joburg on business and on a weekend I booked a guided tour to Pilanesberg NP with Felleng and was not disappointed...it was an absolutely fantastic day out! You will ideally need a 4x4 vehicle for some of the tracks off the main roads - our tour vehicle was as are many of the guided tour vehicles . We were fortunate to see 4 of the Big Five (lion, elephant, cape buffalo, white rhino) which was incredible along with hippo, warthog, impala, springbok, zebra, giraffe, hyena, many other types of antelope I cannot remember all the names of and numerous birds. Unfortunately the leopard and cheetah eluded us, but to compensate we saw a rhino and her calf cross the road immediately in front of our vehicle, a pride of lions on a kill and the elephants even put on a show at the watering hole near the Pilanesberg Centre. Other reviews I've read complain about not seeing a lot of animals and about the roads...it isn't a zoo and is therefore not predictable. You may not be as lucky as we were! And about poachers...unfortunately the park, like many in Africa, is not immune to poachers who have only recently killed 2 rhino for their horns. In summary, it is only 2 hours drive from Joburg and a fantastic way to spend a day or weekend if you appreciate nature.

This crocodile sanctuary is fun for all ages; observe, learn about and even feed these impressive creatures.
Great facilities, only an hours worth to do but nice facilities. Really up close encounters with the animals. Would be nice to see the abandoned enclosures filled with other animals. Staff very enthusiastic about the place.

The Valley of Waves is the central feature of the Lost City at Sun City. It is one of the most advanced water parks in the world, dominated by the Roaring Lagoon. When waves are not generated, a bobbing cycle is generated in a diamond pattern. All Resort residents enter the park free of charge by presenting their resident cards. Day visitors pay an entrance fee to the park.
Is an amazing place with plenty if entertainment for adults and youngs. Be careful with the waves, are very dangerous for children! Tube slides are awesome!

I went to the Valley of the waves and after being drenched on the lazy river, I was desperate for a wash and set. Jean- Claude, who took my call, squeezed me into his diary although he was already busy. My hair is a bit dry and with a frizz, despite never working with my hair before, he was able to set my hair better than my regular hair salon. The salon at the Gary Player country club is about 1/2 the price than the salon at the Palace.
