Visited Fredericksburg to see Civil War battle sites The first we saw was Chancellorsville Battlefield. The Visitor Center was very interesting and had a lot of displays. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. Learning the history of the battle and seeing where Stonewall Jackson was said to have been shot was extremely interesting, as was other information about him. I highly recommend visiting this site as well as the other battlefields in and around Fredericksburg.

Lake Anna offers boating, fishing, hiking, and just all-around fun.
We visited for the day to do some hiking. Lots of trails to pick from. We really enjoyed the day. The trails were quiet this time of year. This park has swimming beaches, camping, cabin rentals, fishing, boating, and trails for horses. Friendly staff. Virginia has some of the best managed State Parks in the nation. Fun for families. Enjoy

Wilderness Run Vineyards is a farm based vineyard and winery in that offers live music, events, wine tastings, and a beautiful scenery to enjoy, with it's sister company, 1781 Brewing Company, located on the same property.
Beautiful farm with history, beer, wine, cigars, thunder storms and friendly staff. We went on a hot Thursday evening during July and enjoyed a bottle of their tasty Barolo blend along with quesadillas from the onsite food truck. My husband enjoyed a cigar purchased on site also in a section a smart business partner named Jen has set up in a former cargo container. A clever configuration opens up onto a covered patio with outdoor rugs and couches over the grass, where cigars can be enjoyed at your leisure. Jen pointed out a civi war plaque which marks the site where Stonewall Jackson had the emergency amputation of his arm.

Great cabin. 4 steps to porch. About 12 to master bedroom with jacuzzi tub and shower. No bugs inside cabin. Bring bug spray many outside. 3 pools 1 lake. Indoor pool, larger outdoor pool, lake, and activities located in one area. Small hike from cabins. Large trailer park also shares resort really the cabins share with trailer park activities closer to them. Cabins have a pool nearby. Lifeguard suggested teen go to main pool. Cabin pool shallow. Activities had equipment rentals for 1 hour. Lake also had rentals but didn't use them so don't know charge or not. Cuz of covid not any group activities offered. Woods behind cabins and I saw a trail. Lots of space to hike. We traveled everyday so didn't use resort to fullest. Arriving late we called and let them know. Security checks you in. Key drop-off on exit, very easy and fast. All staff friendly. All wear masks as mandated. We drove to Washington D.C. 3 days. Ok drive not many delays highway people move accidents out of way quickly. Unless directly behind accident, the traffic moves at a steady pace around at about half speed.
