Mullaghmore Equestrian Centre is located at Mullaghmore in Tydavnet, Co. Monaghan, only 10 minutes from Monaghan Town. The centre is run by the McCarra family who have been involved in all aspects of the horse industry for years. We provide horse-riding lessons throughout the week from beginners to advanced levels, livery, horse-riding experiences for birthday parties, hen and stag parties.
Our family - 3 children ages between 7 and 11, as well as my husband and I, had a fantastic private lesson with Marise yesterday. None of us have any experience but my daughter wanted to try horse riding. We were immediately made to feel comfortable with the horses who were quiet and calm. Exactly what we needed. We all really enjoyed it and learned lots thanks to Marise's tuition and encouragement. We will definitely be back.

We are based in the heart of Glaslough Village where Castle Leslie is situated . We provide pottery tuition for every age and ability . We can teach very large groups in our new premises and also small groups and individuals. Our speciality is the Potter's wheel experience where you can design your very own pot which will be glazed for you in our kiln .We post these out to wherever you are . Pre- booking is advised especially for larger groups though" Pop-in's "are also welcome .We also have our own range of ceramics for sale which is also dishwasher safe some of which is used in Snaffles Restaurant in Castle Leslie and also in the Courthouse Restaurant in Carrickmacross .
While staying in Castle Leslie, I discovered that the hotel uses some very lovely ceramic pottery in their restaurants on the premises, and was happy to learn I could purchase some of the pieces myself at the hotel gift shop PLUS walk into the town of Glaslough and visit the craftswoman herself & see her shop. I would highly recommend any guests of Castle Leslie or the neighboring hotels, to visit Busy Bee Ceramics in Glaslough, and meet Brenda the owner and artist. Treat yourself to one of her unique & beautiful pieces of functional art work - mugs, bowls, etc. - I think you’ll be glad you did!

Visited Rossmore Forest Park last week and overall was very impressed with their lovely walking trails... but I have to say there were a couple of things that I wished I had been aware of prior to our visit! Firstly when you drive through the main gates there is a small parking area on the right....this is NOT the main car park. Keep driving straight and you will arrive at a very well maintained car park with picnic tables and an excellent play area for children. Also, don't be fooled (as we were) by some bizarre signage! One particular direction sign says ACCESS FOR ALL ROUTES and points to the left. This is NOT directing you to the different walking trails, the majority of which are accessed from the OPPOSITE side of the car park. We were totally fooled and followed this sign and spent the next hour wandering around muttering to ourselves 'this can't be right'! Apparently this sign is directing you to a particular route that is ACCESSIBLE FOR ALL ie. walkers and cyclists!! Get it....'Access-For-All' routes!! (Note to Monaghan County Council....remove this crazy sign immediately!). The Castle Trail is gorgeous and has a real magical quality. When you enter it, turn LEFT (ignore the over large sign with arrow pointing right....this is a sign for Coillte: Forestry Department) following the BROWN arrows and it leads to a fantastic walk by the river, past the walled garden ending up at the site of Rossmore Castle....which must have been magnificent (Google old photos) in its day. Follow the steps down to the lake and keep an eye out for the amazing Giant's Head! We'll definitely return!
