Always wanted to go to Newlands since first seeing the ground on TV with Table Mountain as a backdrop. Went to the SA v England ODI and although England didn’t win (I’m from the UK), I loved the experience which will live with me forever.

Situated on the eastern slopes of Table Mountain, Kirstenbosch is internationally acclaimed as one of the seven most magnificent botanical gardens in the world. The 528 hectares estate includes a cultivated garden and a nature reserve. The developed garden displays collections of southern African plants including many rare and endangered species. There are also visitor facilities in the garden including restaurants, a nursery, a gift shop, a bookshop and a permanent Zimbabwean stone sculpture exhibition.
This is a park of majestic, gigantic proportions... We got there by the Hop On Hop Off bus and spent about 2 hours there to be able to catch the next one. But you'd be better advised to go early and spend at least half a day there, just to be able to absorb the sensation of peace, quietness, and serenity that this place exudes... Make sure to have a go on the canopy walk and the numerous nooks and crannies that this immense garden possesses... definitely worth the time!

The Home of Great South African Beer - Since 1820. Visit us, tour the brewery and taste our award-winning beers. Nestled at the foot of Devil's Peak and neighbour to the historic rugby & cricket grounds, is the oldest operating brewery in South Africa and the home of great South African beer - Newlands Brewery. Lovers of delicious, natural refreshment are invited to experience a taste of brewing history, followed by a look into modern-day brewing methods, by joining a fully guided tour of Newlands Brewery. The tour follows the journey of beer from its beginning as a grain, to its end as a well crafted, ice-cold treasure, fittingly ending with a beer tasting and a couple of pints in the brewery's historic underground pub.
I booked the visit for my husband and we both really enjoyed the experience. Very well organised throughout , from booking , being issued with a car parking pass , to the tour and beer tasting and of course the pub ! Would definitely recommend.

Newlands Forest is a beautiful place to walk, with easy hikes, suitable for the whole family. It certainly is a great option for children, with mountain streams where they can catch (and release) tadpoles, look out for for toadstools, birds and insects and even spot a forest fairy if they are lucky ;-) Some parts are dog friendly, others great for mountain biking and many parts of the forest have free access.

I’d wanted to watch cricket at Newlands for a long time..so being able to watch England play South Africa in an ODI was ideal. The sun shone throughout, the view of Table Mountain was well, perfect. The atmosphere was great. Really friendly and welcoming,Yes it would have been nice if England had won, but that didn’t matter in terms of it being a memorable day out. I used Uber to get there and back. Follow the driver’s instructions for the pick-up point after the game. Even if you’re not a cricket fan, this is a place for a great day out. If you are, why haven’t you been already!?

I always try to see the Stormers a few times before returning to UK ,after spending some "swallow time" in this lovely country.I have seen some great rugby matches involving some of the greats in the game(Carter,Genia,Beale,McCaw,the Smith,Nonu and so on)The atmosphere is good and the views of the action are good. The stadium however is great for Super rugby and indeed for Provincial and Currie Cup games but does not compare with stadia like Twickenham,The Millennium Stadium,Sydney Olympic Stadium or Stade de France for international matches. I find it strange(as a foreigner and a Springbok lover)why international matches are not played at the magnificent Green Point Stadium, which has better access and a larger capacity.I am told it is a result of rugby politics with Western Province owning Newlands. What a shame this cannot be sorted out. I will, however, continue to go see the Stormers on my SA trips and enjoy that much faster game you have down here than we have in Europe. P.S. the beer is great at' The Springbok'.
