One can learn a lot about Garibaldi by just going to his house about his family ,and his health , many personal items and his last days that you will not find in a book. His love of nature and the simple life and how he built the impressive house from granite and his love of granite ,and is buried in a simple massive granite coffin with some members of his family close by . However before going would recommend visitors look up more about his life and achievements on the internet . There is a an English translation information sheet but is very limited about what he actually achieved in his life . He was great leader and patriot who asked for little very active freedom fighter in South America and Europe . Todays leaders do not come close !! Italy needs to take this great hero out of the cupboard and dust him down and learn from what he achieved , and why he did it. He was a great leader of his today and great example for us now ! I was on completely my own and shown round by a very nice guy but at olympic speed , and I think much more could be done to promote Garibaldi life with information screens , and brochures. However we must not forget this is not Disney land but a memorial to a great man where he and is family are buried ,but we can learn a lot from his incredible life !

Beautiful sea in Caprera
I spent 6 days on Smeralda coast and I have checked several beaches...in my opinion this was the best beach in the area. Technically is not on Smeralda coast but I was forced to compare. I am not sure but it was the only one with Blue flag. Unfortunately is not very easy to reach but I believe is worthed to make the effort.
