Have just had a Thai progressive massage with Mathieu and wanted to recommend Him to anyone who seeks a highly skilled technique , professional approach and relaxed manner , he adjusts individually to each person and brings balance, sensitivity and energy to the person he works with. I felt totally relaxed with both him and the place in Playa Honda, it being just round the corner from the apartment I am staying in at the moment. Again highly recommend Mathieu his professional work is outstanding.

Museo Etnografico Tanit

thnographic Museum TanitTo safeguard the legacy of those who have preceded us is what leads them to show both friends and strangers, a small treasure... property and fixtures used by the ancestors of the island Lanzarote.

Great little under promoted gem in this sleepy village almost at the centre of the island. We visited to find it very quite, I believe it’s not well known, shame it’s packed with finds and historical items from the history of Lanzarote from the Zonzamas period up to present day. Lots of items from 2000bc when the locals were not Spanish and thrived in a tree filled island with plenty of good land. Bowls and personal items are crammed into cabinets all throughout the buildings. The host handed us a newly produced English language guide which highlights many items. The same family have owned this building since it was built in 1730s and their belongings whilst wine related initially are what any museum worth it’s salt would hold if they too were trying to explain what the islanders life had been for hundreds of years. Wander round room after room and buildings all over the site, then into the gardens to find more little knickknacks. There is a shop with many items for sale, but no cafe which would I feel make this a site to spend more than an hour and a half like we did, guests want to sit, take in the atmosphere and have a drink of coffee and a bite to eat.

Bodega El Grifo - Museo del Vino

The Wine Museum is the oldest winery in the Canary Islands and one of the ten oldest in Spain. The current owners are the fifth generation of a family who bought it from another family in 1880. It's placed in the protected zone of "La Geria" which was covered with lava and ash after the volcanic eruptions from 1730 to 1736. Inside, you will find wine presses, pumps, crushers, stills ... etc., everything from the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. We invite you on a walk through our vineyard in the heart of la Geria and to taste our Wines. Come and visit our winery, we will be pleased to attend you

We were hesitant, at first, to pay to visit the museum with wine tasting included. However it turned out to be very good value for money. We explored the original bodega with all its old fixtures, everything was well labelled. There is a delightful cactus garden and you can also wander the zocos where the vines are growing. To finish we could select a couple of wines to try each from a well explained selection. These were brought to us in a pretty courtyard in sparkling glasses with some nibbles. You can also opt to try more wines or to add cheese and biscuits at extra cost. Staff were friendly and helpful and we thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

Casa Museo Del Campesino

The Casa-Museo el Campesino is located in the geographic centre of the island in the municipality of San Bartolomé, and it is a public tribute César Manrique paid to the effort of men and women working the fields, and facing the worst conditions in order to be able to bring the land to life. Wine and food products from Lanzarote are nowadays internationally renowned thanks to the effort Manrique made when paying this tribute. The Museo del Campesino complex, is a visual and emotional display, that pays special attention to the wit, courage, bravery of local farmers. It consists of a series of buildings that look like traditional homes, with white walls and green wood, combining the most characteristic elements of the different areas of the island. The Museo is guarded by the majestic Monumento a la Fecundidad: a fifteen-metre tall sculpture created by Manrique using boat water tanks, and iron and cement objects assembled. A magnificent symbol of avant-garde art that became an iconogra
