Orange is a city located in Orange County, California. It is approximately 3 miles (4.8 kilometers) north of the county seat, Santa Ana. Orange is unusual in this region because many of the homes in its Old Town District were built prior to 1920. While many other cities in the region demolished such houses in the 1960s, Orange decided to preserve them. The small city of Villa Park is surrounded by the city of Orange. The Hilbert Museum of California Art at Chapman University, which opened in 2016, was established thanks to the generosity of Mark and Janet Hilbert, whose superlative collection focuses on the “California Scene” painting movement of roughly the 1920s through the 1970s and beyond. The Hilbert Collection – which includes oils, watercolors, sketches and lithographs of rural and urban scenes, coastal views, farms, ranches, freeways and landscapes of everyday life in the Golden State – is a significant repository of 20th-century representational art by California artists. The Collection also includes animation and movie art (many California fine artists were drawn to the state by work in the movie industry, including as animators, background painters, set and backdrop designers and poster artists) and works by noted American illustrators.
My dtr and I went 'museuming' while our husbands went elsewhere for the day. This was our first stop as she wanted so much to see the Mary Blair exhibit. Additionally there was an exhibit of " A fine Romance" love scenes for classic movies as well as one about Los Angeles area scene paintings. What a treat!!! And free!!. Parking is right out front. The docents were so kind and explained a number of things about the exhibits as well as the museum itselt which is on the campus of Chapman University. We got there early in the day on a Saturday just after T-giving and by the time we left, there were a goodly number of people there. Most wanted to see the extended exhibit of Mary Blair who did a lot of Disney things.

I thought I was just getting a massage, to be pleasantly surprised with all-day access to a full spa! Quiet, soothing atmosphere, with a "social" room if you do come with friends and want to chat. My favorite details: Spa water everywhere. Bowls of fruit. Any toiletries you might need. Chilled aromatherapy face towels by the hot tub. Face towels on ice by the sauna. Silent room with comfy chairs and ottomans, with water and soothing music, to just take a break or a nap. Amazing deep tissue massage with Jules. She asked what I wanted her to focus on, and did exactly what I asked for. She checked in regularly to see whether the pressure was what I wanted, and adjusted accordingly. Highly recommend her. If it's your first time and you're going for a massage or such, get there early so you can get the tour and maybe a dip in the hot tub. Men and women are separated for hot tub, sauna, etc. Clothes optional, but most people wore swimsuits. High price tag was well worth it. Great respite from the intense stimulation of Disneyland!

Old Towne is such a great place to visit and you could easily spend half a day here. There’s this nostalgic feel as you walk the streets. The shops that line Glassell are mostly vintage in nature or are antique shops loaded with every kind of antique you could imagine. It’s a collector’s dream as you’ll find vintage glassware, clothes, toys, furniture, etc. It’s like time traveling through history as you go from one store to the next. Even if you don’t plan on buying anything, it’s really fun to look. There’s also lots of little places to eat and even a Starbucks in an old bank building that’s great when you need a boost of caffeine. My recommendation is to bring good walking shoes. Parking is available on the streets at no charge or there’s public parking in structures nearby.

Treated my wife to a pasta cooking class at Le Gourmet Culinary in the city of Orange, Ca. this past Tuesday and what a fun and learning experience we had with the amazing Chef Walsh. His teaching methods were easy to understand and follow. We learned how simple pasta making can be. We made fettuccine, ravioli, and lasagna all from scratch and were amazed at how delicious everything turned out. Chef Walsh was very knowledgeable and entertaining. 3 hr class flew by in no time. Class was limited to four couples so no one was left alone. We all had hands on experiences. Since then, my wife and I made the fettuccine and were very pleased with our results. Would recommend this class to friends and family. Will return for paella cooking class. Thank you Chef Walsh.
