Charming play house and cultural center in the heart of Kentlands, a beautiful, award-winning neighborhood just 30 minutes from D.C. The historic Arts Barn often hosts plays, musicals, music performances, comedians and more for all ages and tastes. They also feature art exhibits along with classes pertaining to the arts for adults, children and teens. This local gem harkens back to a simpler time when families and friends meandered from home and met up for activities in the center square. It’s just lovely!

Local history full steam ahead at the Gaithersburg Community Museum! Located in the restored 1884 B&O Railroad complex in Olde Towne, the museum bridges Gaithersburg's past and present for visitors of all ages. Exhibits in the Freight House and rail cars explore our rich history and hands-on learning centers for children spark the imagination. The Station, an active commuter stop, houses dining and restroom facilities, and the outdoor interpretive spaces, with the ever-popular rolling stock, offer the possibility of experiencing the sights and sounds of the trains that frequently rumble past the Museum. Nearby Observatory Park is home to the Gaithersburg International Latitude Observatory. Operating from 1899-1982, the Observatory was one of six worldwide that measured the wobble of the earth on its polar axis leading to improved navigation and significant scientific discoveries. This outdoor interpretive space highlights the importance of the scientific work conducted here for nearly a century.
This site was well displayed for a small footprint. Unfortunately we were too early to enter the museum but are sure it would have been worth the look. The engine and cars on display were worth the stop.

Yayyy! Just not enough space for words in this block to emphasize how much this place means to me. Just think for a moment! Now your chairs really power recline whilst your drink sits in a deep holder on a platform large enough to support your dinner plate. Imagine your row of seats beeing deep and far enough from the rows in front and behind you. Imagine having a lounge with a full service bar and, perhaps a menu to order your 'to be served' meal in your designated theater seat. Imagine sooo much room in your seat between your neighbors that your elbows never ever compete for arm rest corners. Finally, enjoying the big screens including previews for 20-30 minutes. This, I look forward to from movie-to-movie. Bring them on!!!
