The Westland Industrial Heritage Park is part of the heritage walk in Hokitika. It’s an interesting place to see old machinery and talk to the wonderful volunteers that work on the bits of history. My personal favourite were the old fire trucks! Entry is free, but it’s definitely worth giving a donation to.

We spent over an hour in the Museum, great collection of historical information relating to the importance of coal mining in the district. I enjoyed the mixture of photos, info boards, videos and personal artifacts. Staff were helpful, and friendly. Only $10 entry fee for adults, money well spent. Set us up with the knowledge to explore Denniston etc

Dollyworld is a place where all your childhood memories come back to you that were so dear. The children enjoy playing with the crazy monkey and other battery operated toys as well as digging for buried treasure and seeing the childrens faces when they open up there surprise lucky dip that there family had bought for them. We also have a doll hospital now where we gives dolls a makeover and make them look brand new again for the children for a donation. In general Dollyworld makes people smile, and I enjoy making friends, and folk can also look at the handmade jewerllery that we sell and take their time, and they relax and stay for a while.

We spent a good two + hours visiting this museum, which has memorabilia from an absolute mass of C&W singers throughout the world. The owner ( a former leading DJ in NZ) is extremely knowledgeable and is able to answer all questions about the various singers. Thank you Barry for such an interesting and memorable visit.

I went to the Sock World & Sock Knitting machine Museum here in Hokitika. I was amazed at the exceptionally high quality of the socks for sale.I bought a beautiful pair of possum and merino socks for about 25 dollars that are so comfortable I never want to take them off ! The lady who served me was really lovely, and made me feel welcome. I totally recommend this establishment to anybody looking for top quality socks and or knitwear in Hokitika. Andrew
