A town of Art and HistoryMedieval city of ConflansTo enter Conflans by the “Porte de Savoie” is to enter into history. Streets and alleways have stayed the same as the time of the Green Count, Amédée VI, count of Savoy. On the Roman road from Milan to Vienna via the Petit Saint Bernard pass, Conflans witnessed the passage of merchants, peddlers, and pilgrims.Today, Conflans welcomes you all year round in its maze of narrow streets, on its shady terraces full of flowers, and in its colourful boutiques.
I walked up the hill from Albertville to Conflans - fairly steep climb but one can stop halfway up - there is a park with benches and the most beautiful view of the mountains. I went in winter, so many of the shops and restaurants are closed, but the advantage is one gets to explore the place very easily. There are hikes that can be done from the village - but one needs time. Really worth a visit.
