The Bay of Plenty (Māori: Te Moana-a-Toi) is a large bight in the northern coast of New Zealand's North Island. It stretches from the Coromandel Peninsula in the west to Cape Runaway in the east, a wide stretch of some 259 km of open coastline. The Bay of Plenty Region is situated around this body of water, also incorporating several large islands in the bay. The bay was named by James Cook after he noticed the abundant food supplies at several Māori villages there, in stark contrast to the earlier observations he had made in Poverty Bay.

Tauranga Crossing is The Bay of Plenty's newest shopping centre with over 100+ stores to taste and explore, including H&M, Farmers, PAK'nSAVE, The Warehouse and EVENT Cinemas. The Observatory, which includes 5 eateries, Rcade and EVENT Cinemas is open until 10pm daily.
The new mall is bright and airy and has a vibrant atmosphere. There is a great mix of shops to meet all your needs and wants. The new cinema complex is world class and has a real popcorn machine, which seems to gone from other theatres. The dining options cover all bases and include some new, fresh alternatives to the usual uninspired food courts of most malls. The dramatic architecture of dining wing is refreshing and overlooks a sunny outdoor space with a patio and play area. Best of all: Heaps of free parking!
