The FAC is a purpose-built performing and visual arts venue in the heart of Frankston and is one of the largest outer metropolitan arts venues in Australia incorporating an 800 seat theatre, 2 exhibition gallery spaces, a function centre, a 192 seat black box theatre and the creative arts hub - Cube 37. Established in 1995, the FAC has a long history and commitment to community, cultural development and increasing access opportunities to promote mental health and wellbeing through the arts. The Centre attracts approximately 250,000 visitors through its doors each year. Over 50% of visitors come from outside the Frankston municipality, most notably from the Mornington Peninsula and Westernport regions, as well as Melbourne's bayside and along EastLink to Ringwood. The FAC is an Inclusive venue, providing arts opportunities for all abilities and is unique in its field having a dedicated Arts Access Officer and program including live theatre captioning, ticket subsidy scheme, educational pathways and specialised workshops. The FAC is managed by an Independent Board of Management and receives an annual budget subsidy as part of Council's operations. Many local schools, theatre companies, community arts groups and artists use the facility each year. A subsidised community rate is provided to all community hirers. The FAC plays host to approximately one quarter of a million visitors annually; attracted to artistic offerings which range from community and school productions to sell-out performances by touring national and international artists. Renowned for its variety of theatre, visual arts and new media arts, from local, national and international artists, The FAC’s mission is to provide and inspire creative experiences that strive for a positive community participation and engagement.
Easy to park underneath, and not too costly like some places, but get in early to secure a spot. Lift access to theatre, so ideal for wheelchairs and the elderly. Catering company that the theatre uses, makes yummy stuff, so if you are going to a function there, then you're in for a treat. Lots of function rooms, and plenty of toilets. Easy access into the theatre, and all seating gives an excellent view because it doesn't overseat, like some places do. Big stage, with all the facilities.
