Certified organic Alsace wines - tastings and sales at the cellar door. Our self-catered apartments at the winery are perfectly located for those looking to discover the region's wines and gastronomy.

A beautiful 75-mile drive through the Alsace filled with medieval châteaux and wine vineyards.
We drove this route from Colmar (worth a visit to the old town) to Strasbourg, and it lived up to its reputation - lovely countryside, sweet villages, roadsides dotted with crucifixes, and plenty of wine to taste. We came knowing nothing about Alsatian wines - here are the very basics: Riesling rules here, this Riesling is dry, and it’s delicious and inexpensive. Tastings are generally free, but we learned it’s good manners to limit your tastes to three or fewer if you don’t buy something. This would be a great area to pick a town to stay in and bike from town to town, though we didn’t do so.

Extraordinary views of valleys and mountains from the road, which was built during WWI to facilitate French military movements. This was the border between Germany and France from 1871 until the end of WWI. The route goes from about 3000 feet to over 4000 feet, and there are several restaurants on the way, with great views. Also very popular with hikers.
