Upon arriving in new area first thing we do is go to visitor center to make sure we have enough information to ensure we see everything possible. Our volunteer, Gail, was great. We got information of Sonoma Valley-area maps, what to expect in all little towns, and good eating suggestions. Gail really knew the area well. Thank you Gail we really appreciated your time and information.

Bordered by several gourmet shops, this pretty town square is a perfect place for a picnic.
This was the birth of California, full of history and social activities. Whether you want to have a picnic in the park, tour the historic mission, do some wine tasting, have a delicious lunch or dinner at one of the unique restaurants or do some interesting shopping, it's all in The Square.

What fun. The girls behind the counter obviously take great pride in the product. They knew it well and were very happy to share it with me. Anything I wanted to try was available for tasting. I also appreciate when professionals have their own opinions and express them. Yes, they like the garlic jack better than the pesto. I loved the variety of different cheese styles and I would love to go back and take a tour when I have more time.

Right next to the Mission. Again, full of history on California and the beginning of the US possession of the Western US.

We didn't have much time here, but you could spend a while meandering about - especially after visits to the area wineries. Would love to return with more time. Really pretty place with no shortage of history lesson.
