Mountain Loop Highway

This is about a 55 mile drive from Granite Falls to Darrington, WA. A 2-lane highway taking you along the South Stillaguamish River through beautiful mountain scenery, picnic spots along the way, and approximately 35 miles paved (to Barlow Pass), then dirt and gravel along the backside to Darrington. The road is suitable for all vehicles during Summer months. During the Winter months, check for details as the road closes about 13 miles East of Granite Falls. Great for fishing, hiking, photography, camping, bird watching, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing.

Heather Lake Trail

The hike is nice wear sturdy shoes rock outcropping and tree roots can be a challenge The lake and Mountain View’s are wonderful. Nice walking trail around the lake great spots to have a snack and take in the sights and sounds I gave it a 5 star the road to get there 0. To the forest Service Road maintainability Negative The forest service road to the trail head is terrible pot holes so big there were car parts on the side of the road not exaggerating, this is so sad because the forest service charges to use this road,
