Ronda’s most striking feature is the Puente Nuevo, which spans a gorge over 300 feet deep. Can you guess when the "new bridge" was built? 1793. That should give visitors an idea of how unchanged Ronda has been over the years. It’s also known as the birthplace of modern bullfighting. The town’s bullfighting ring is only used once a year, at the Feria Goyesca, but it’s also a museum where you can learn about the history of this traditional (yet controversial) sport.

Great tapas bar with friendly staff, even if you do not speak a word of the language. Get familiar with google translate (save a few sentences as favourites for example) and prepare to work your way through a simple but delightful menu. Tapas starting at €1 each are brilliant value for money and guarantee that only your greed will fill you up to stuffing whilst you sample numerous local delights. I arrived shortly after 20:00 when it reopened for the evening and was still quiet and by 21:00 there were queues outside. Draw your own conclusions... Forget the touristy spots by the bridge and head off the beaten path to find yourself something local, traditional and quite special.
