Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Қазақстан, translit. Qazaqstan, IPA: [qɑzɑqˈstɑn] ( listen); Russian: Казахстан, IPA: [kəzɐxˈstan]), officially the Republic of Kazakhstan (Kazakh: Қазақстан Республикасы, translit. Qazaqstan Respýblıkasy; Russian: Республика Казахстан, tr. Respublika Kazakhstan), is the world's largest landlocked country, and the ninth largest in the world, with an area of 2,724,900 square kilometres (1,052,100 sq mi). Kazakhstan is the dominant nation of Central Asia economically, generating 60% of the region's GDP, primarily through its oil/gas industry. It also has vast mineral resources. Some argue that Kazakhstan may be considered a European country because Kazakhstan's Western region is on the European continent and meets the Council of Europe's criteria for European inclusion.

The Green belt of Nur–Sultan

Reviewed By mnurtay - Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan

Nur- Sultan city is surrounded by huge territory of forest running along around the city. The forest belt can be seen from different sides of the city which total area is about 73 thousand hectares! The forest plantation can also be seen in many places, for example, along the Nura-Ishim river, it also stretches long the way to Borovoye, Pavlodar, Kostanay and Karaganda. When going down the Nur-Sultan - Karaganda road to Nurly village (or “41 junction”) even without entering the village, one can easily go straightly to the plantation of currant bushes. So, what we did with my family last July. When we arrived at the place, we saw a variety of current bushes colours: black, red, yellow and others. There were also some gooseberry bushes, but we could not gather them till August. I have never seen so many ripe berries in nature before. I used to see then only in supermarkets… We enjoyed collecting these beautiful, juicy and tasty berries, unspoiled by pesticides or other chemicals. The most exciting thing is that it’s absolutely free, even if you collect them a lot. Having been there, you could feel the real beauty and silence of nature, as it is located in a far away distance from the noisy city, about 40-50 minutes far from the center of Nur-Sultan. It was an unusual experience for me as a person who lived in the urban place. Hopefully, next summer I can visit other parts of the Green Belt and see other kinds of plants, for instance, 26 different types of trees that have been planted in the “Ak Kayin” forest nursery. I would like to see yellow acacias or pick natural apples. I highly recommend the guests of the capital to visit the Green Belt of Nur-Sultan.
