Les Mielles is an area of sand dunes in western Jersey backing the southern end of St Ouen's Bay. We reached Les Mielles following a walk from St Aubyn Harbour which took us along the old railway track, detouring from the route via the boundary of La Moye golf course. Soon we found ourselves in deserted, undulating sand dunes, which stunning views towards Jersey Airport and the brilliant blue sea of St Ouen's Bay. You will also come across two ancient burial chambers before you reach the road bordering the bay. A beautiful and remote part of this beautiful island.

The National Trust for Jersey Wetland Centre is perfectly situated overlooking La Mare au Seigneur (St Ouen's Pond) SSI nature reserve and acts as both a state-of-the-art bird hide as well as a wetland interpretation centre.

Lihou Island is worth the walk, you can only reach this little island on very low tides.Be warned find out when its the right tide,in the pass ,people have beed caught out. This Island is of history, there are ruins to prove it,Lihou is also covered with many wild flowers and it's full of wild life and rare birds nesting.A chaming walk around the island is must, remember to wear good walking boots or shoes, you will be walking on stones.I would suggest you take a drink with you, it is a fair walk, and it can get very warm.

I have spent most of my younger days on this beach, it has many fond memories ! This beach is so much nicer at low tide. My profile photo was taken 2019,in October I will warn you ,it comes with a price to pay,the walk is very steep down from the large car park. The views are amazing, and you wont be disappointed .I would not recommend it for wheel chair users or anyone unsteady on thier feet, it will challenge you.I now go fishing there, but it is still the same unspoiled beach I grow up on.You can check the tides on the local paper or the internet.
The Jersey Biodiversity Centre is a charity that collects and manages information about Jersey’s wildlife, ecology and natural environment, and educates about the importance of biodiversity. We encourage all visitors and locals to record all their wildlife sightings onto our website. These records will then play a vital role in helping safeguard the island's unique species for future generations. Learn all about Jersey's wildlife and how to get involved in local surveying through our talks, or interactive workshops which we run regularly, to ensure you are always connected to nature. Although our office is based in St Helier, please contact us to arrange educational sessions which can take place anywhere around the island. We are very much about being outside in nature.
