We did both halves of this walk on separate days during our holiday in January. The first half out from Whakatane to Ohope around the headland and cliffs was quite spectacular. A j Bi it of a climb coming out of Whakatane and then the views open up. They are right when they tell you to get the tide right. The final hill crossing over to Ohope beach is short and sharp but all is doable. The trip back over to Whakatane in the inland route is still very scenic, but the scenery is all native bush and forest. A reasonable climb to get up out of Hope through an awesome pohutukawa Forest. The wetland and boardwalk is also very interesting. All in all, linking all of these tracks up has proved a great resource for the Whakatane area, which is well worth trying out.

Easy to get to beach, between Edgecumbe and Whakatane, nice for doggies to run. Enjoyed the peace and calm day with the sea rolling in, there by myself.

The flat consists of 3 divan single beds in the dining/lounge area + a seperate bedroom with a single divan bed & double bed. There is a shower & toilet off the bedroom. A shop on site for those bits & pieces you require. Free access to the pool area if you stay on site. Only 10 minutes away from Whakatane. Fantastic friendly host & service. Highly recommend if you want to get away with the family! ????????
