If youve ever wanted to become a Lake Eerie wingwatcher, the Osborn Recreation Area is a good place to begin. Youll likely catch sight of a songbird, a yellowthroated warbler, and if youre lucky, a great horned owl.
Our desire to find a playground for our children paid off in surprising ways at Osborn Park. Not only was there an excellent playground, we found a fitness trail, walking paths, a small nature museum, and a music play area that would have kept our kids going for hours. The staff at the park was super friendly, the facilities well maintained and the information posted about programs was impressive. We left very impressed.

This stretch of shoreline comprises a diversity of habitats that sustain a number of plant and animal communities. Over 300 species of birds visit the preserve, and in the springtime, expect a carpet of wildflowers.
Our family enjoyed a leisurely walk surrounded by beauty on a brisk morning. This place is amazing and serene! We’re so thankful to have experienced it!

This arboretum is a beautiful, peaceful place to spend time walking the trails or relaxing by the pond. There is a paved trail that encompasses the pond with benches for resting and watching the swallow acrobatics over the water in the evening. Another trail goes into the woods. There is a picnic shelter near the college parking lot with four picnic tables. Clean and well-maintained restrooms are near the main entrance. There is no admission fee.

It's a living lake so don't go by reviews of the conditions at the time people review it. The Lake looks clear under certain conditions, and it looks uninviting when the winds kick up the sand and the bottom of the lake. Yes, from time to time you will see a dead fish but that is nature. What this hidden gem brings is a great expanse of sandy beach at a bargain price of $5 parking fee. There is family owned restaurant that is not mentioned but should be: The Sand Bar. It is a native favorite with daily blue plate specials. You have to drive or walk a few blocks to hometown restaurants like Berardi's or Marconis (just dinner). But dress accordingly in shorts and shirts.
