Beautiful terrain, forest types from basic swamp type to old oaks lining the roads. Loved the differences within a few feet from each other.

Tom Varn Park

We were in Brooksville to get our second Covid shot and wanted to get a little exercise before lunch and the shot. I found this park on Tripadvisor and thought we would give it a shot There is a nice paved trail that meanders around a pond and a nice tree lined area. We extended our walk by going to the end of the trail and walking on an old golf course that had a paved loop of about one mile. It was hilly but very nice. This was perfect for a short walk.

McKethan Lake Nature Trail

I'm writing this review with the intent of praising this park but yet keeping it saved as a 'hidden gem'. Each visit for me has been relaxing and calming. No bling, no zoom! Just a less traveled path. It's a fairly small park, I guess that helps it from becoming a busy place. The little lake is tranquil. There are some short trails to enjoy, along with a small walkway bridge. I'm content to sit at one of the rustic tables and just listen to the sounds of....nothing. Peace and quiet. Ahhhhhhh!
