The Tank Museum brings history to life, with the world’s best collection of tanks and explosive live displays. Our exhibitions tell the story of armoured warfare spanning over 100 years of history. Exploring ten powerful exhibitions, you will come face to face with almost 300 armoured vehicles. This unique collection includes the world’s first ever tank, the feared German Tiger and the modern Challenger 2. There are special events going on throughout the year at The Tank Museum including TANKFEST, Tiger Day and the Vintage Christmas Festival and Craft Fayre, as well as special activity programmes during the School Holiday.
My seven-year-old grandson and I visited together. He is an enthusiast for tanks of all sizes. I served in the RTR in the 1970s. This was our fourth visit together, but the pleasure of seeing the displays and the eagerness of getting to the museum have not lessened. We are a bit disappointed the Tiger display is being dispersed, but appreciate you have to introduce new ideas. We enjoy seeing the scale models and the semi-Lego, although grandpa whose pocket is not bottomless sees this as an advertisement for your shop. The layout of the museum, the great variety of tanks on display, the information boards, the background history, the helpful guides -- all make this an unsurpassed museum experience for both grandson and grandfather. Even our enthusiasm for toy soldiers can be indulged. We look forward further visits with our year entry, another good feature.

This hidden treasure trove is a must see of local talent! Two floors of local businesses selling beautiful items in a fascinating rustic old building tucked away in the heart of Wareham. You will find original artworks, unique furniture, jewellery, quirky gifts, sculpture, clothing- it's an Aladdin's cave of ever changing stock! Come and have a browse and meet one of the Artisans. Open every day.
Hidden in Church Street, Wareham, so close to the historic Wareham's Lady St Mary Church is The Purbeck Artisan's Yard. Chock full of excellent art, paintings, cards, prints, vintage goodies, the choice is temptingly and almost endless. All the group take a turn in sitting in the Yard.. all friendly and helpful. There is never pressure to buy so don't let that put you off having a happy look around.

Grange Gallery is a stunning oasis in the Isle of Purbeck, designed, built and managed by creative duo, Jason Cameron, Bespoke Furniture Maker and Esme James, Contemporary Artist. Their Wooden Barn is in an idyllic, hidden location set back from the road, behind a Red Brick Barn it is a magical space and place where you can enjoy, purchase and commission great art and design, and relax in Café Grange with a cup of high-quality freshly ground coffee. Jason and Esme design and make all their creations onsite in their workshop/studio and exhibit/sell their creations in Grange Gallery alongside work they have selected from over 20 talented local artists and makers from Dorset. They also run workshops including the popular Grange Gallery Paint Nights which are perfect for beginners and an excellent activity for groups... so gather friends, family or work colleagues and book up for a night out with a difference!
We stopped for coffee and a cake on our way back from tyneham village. This is a little treasure. The artwork in the cafe is beautiful and very inspiring (I'm a very amateur potter!) Staff very friendly and talked about the works on show. Lovely coffee and cake. Will certainly be popping by again. Thank you Esme and the rest of the staff.
