I have visited Korla multiple times, however this if first time to stay in this hotel due to recent regulation change for foreigners. It is excellent hotel, next to the river with great view, large room. The restaurant is for the local food only. It suggests to ensure you have some local to help you at the airport and check in due to recent tight security regulation.

We spent five days at the Jia Xing Guo Hua Hotel while visiting friends for a wedding in Korla. Western style hotel with good bathroom and great shower. The hotel was hot. Good breakfast but Chinese style with nothing at all to drink most days, not even hot water-- Like most Chinese hotels the carpets needed cleaning--what is it about the lack of vacuum cleaners? Even Dyson sell theirs in China. Otherwise the standard was okay, though very dim corridor lighting always. Service was inconsistent--two days our room was not made up by 5 in the afternoon and the sign was turned around to say Don't Disturb when we had left it sayiing Make Up Room--the staff don't read English clearly. The Muslim restaurant on the 2nd floor is the best place to eat in the hotel, though expensive compared to the noodle shop on the first floor for some reason called Western Restaurant.

Known in English as the Shine Business Hotel, this property needs either to be renamed or torn down. The bomb scanning security equipment at the front entrance was not used upon my arrival. This leads me to believe that hotel management may be looking to economize upon the latter. Abysmal accommodation but with a beautiful, modern, flat screen television in the guest room, obviously meant to distract occupants from the appalling condition of everything else. Full local cable is provided which includes an English language new channel. Beds are hard but the linens were bleached and recently changed. Black mould is growing inside the elevator; the doors on which slam shut after a second person enters or exits. The corridors reek of cigarette smoke with carpeting so badly stained that the original colour can no longer be disseminated. Only cold water comes from the bathroom faucet and the basin leaks all over the filthy, tiled bathroom floor. Water pressure from a wall-mounted shower head is minimal but there is hot water in the shower. Towels are rough and stained. Cracker crumbs and debris soil the bedroom carpeting. The hotel does not have a working vacuum cleaner and has not even the slightest sense of commercial decency for them to even bother to have taken their broken vacuum cleaners to be repaired. Carpets look to have been of high quality when new and could possibly be revived with a good shampooing. WiFi is slow and intermittent. All surfaces are grimy and mirrors are marked with fingerprint and water stains. A few sheets of the cheapest quality toilet paper and a sliver of a bar of soap complete bathroom amenities. Beds are hard but the linens were bleached and recently changed. No food service, which, based upon the disgusting filth in this hotel, surely seems to be a preventative measure. No non-smoking rooms are provided. I was immediately relocated to a room where the windows opened but window screens were non-existent, opening the room to mosquitos but providing an easy escape route to the mouse who seemed to smile and wave back at me as he scampered through the gaping window. As I was lodged in this hotel for two nights by a Chinese businessman who really should have known better, I had no choice but to stay.
