The counter-culture, flower power center of the 60s, bohemian Berkeley has evolved into a culinary and cultural travel scene. Shift into low gear and people-watch along quirky Telegraph Avenue while checking out the bookstores and cafes. After strolling through the UC Berkeley campus, the Berkeley Rose Garden and the Downtown Arts District, head into the hills for an outdoor adventure in Tilden Park or cruise down to the waterfront park, where the San Francisco skyline sparkles across the bay.

Check-In and Out was easy:) Plenty of parking and area came off safe:) Heard no noise from other rooms and little from outside:) Bed was comfortable:) Plenty of hot shower water and great pressure:) Nice TV and very good channel selection:) Shower floor can be slick and shower itself tight for bigger people? Door was hard to lock:( Found past guest glasses on floor under air conditioning wall unit? Hated how the bathrooms light is automated to come on when you enter the area, makes it hard on the eyes in the middle of the night. When I was showering, the light would go off do to no movement in bathroom, showering in the dark is not fun:( Still, really liked this BW

Overall upgrades for all aspects. The breakfast selection consisted of only 1 item. The room had an exposed outlet and a faulty bathroom light/fan switch. there was no housekeeping after our 1st night stay. The insulation between the 1st floor rooms nd the 2nd floor rooms was non existing. very noisy.

We booked ahead when we planned a visit to Oakland. We needed to stay three nights and the reviews on Tripadvisor seemed reasonable for the area.....We arrived early afternoon, location is small entrance off University and narrow. The check in place was locked and you had to ring the bell to get in.....there was also a security window area for the people inside to talk to you or receive payment...We noticed the ice machine was out of order and not very clean sitting on the outside of the entrance. They gave us a key to the room and we parked in an angle space next to a large stone wall with what could have been a barb wire attachment along the top. We entered the room .... bare floors, decent dated furniture....and NO AC ..... we asked if they had AC and they brought us a large upright fan...It was extremely hot outside and that fan was not going to do much to cool the room...they said we could open the window....I don't think it was an area where one should open the window. We also noticed the area where the staff was had fancy ironwork on their windows.....We told them we were not staying....They were accepting of our departure and sent our booking site a cancellation immediately.....I am writing this as I feel they do not honestly give a complete picture of their property both on their website and booking sites ..... It just was not the right place for us....
