Very well priced. Comfortable rooms. Nice breakfast. When my taxi didn’t arrive in the morning the owner insisted on driving me to my office herself, and flat out refused to take any payment whatsoever. Wow.

In Schrobenhausen in a rustic building we opened an Italian restaurant with excellent Mediterranean specialties over 10 years ago. We recently renovated the rooms. Our overnight guests have 6 single and 6 double rooms with shower, hairdryer, TV and WiFi available, which can be booked with a delicious breakfast. Modern beds guarantee maximum sleeping comfort and Nespresso coffee machines ensure an energetic start to the day, free of charge, of course. The restaurant is open from 5 p.m. every day except Monday and offers Italian specialties with high-quality products.
Toll!

When I arrived and found I had a room on the third floor (the German’s call it the second floor) I asked if there were an elevator. The answer was, “No, this is an old house.” I waited a moment to see if the gentleman might ask to carry my luggage up to the room, but he didn’t, so I politely asked if he might help. He sighed, grabbed my suitcase, and preceded to jog up the stairs. I did not feel welcome. I had booked a double room for single occupancy. It was satisfactory, but the room was cold. The radiator was turned on, yet there was no heat. It was early in the autumn season, so I assumed that they had not begun heating. But maybe they would heat later? They did not. They should have, as the temperature was dipping down below ten centigrade (the high 40s Fahrenheit). The wooden floors were icy cold, especially during the night. A nightime visit to the bathroom with bare feet was unpleasant. The room was clean and adequate, but the furniture looked old and tired. With one small window, the room was quite dark too. The bed was fine, but there was no reading lamp or night table on the right-hand side where I usually sleep. I used the wooden chair from the desk as a night table. (The desk was a simple slab of wood at the window). The chair was perfectly fine as a place to put my alarm clock and book, but it would have been better to have a night table with a lamp. The bathroom was small, but renovated. The towels, though, were old and threadbare. There was a flimsy plastic cup for one’s toothbrush which fell over when you put the toothbrush in it. It made the whole room feel cheap. A clean glass made of glass would have been better. The Wi-Fi was a catastrophe. It was weak and didn’t work most of the time. It was extremely frustrating. When I mentioned it to the proprietor he just shrugged. It felt to me that he has heard this complaint time and again. So why don't they fix the Wi-Fi? But really annoying was the restaurant. The food was satisfactory, but I did not feel welcome. I felt as if it were a chore for the waiters to wait on me and my colleague. We ate a full dinner and I had a large glass of wine. Afterwards, I asked if I might have a half glass of wine. “No, the owner doesn’t allow it,” was the curt answer. I was shocked. I have never been in a restaurant that didn’t allow a small glass – especially after drinking a large glass. I was disappointed and will likely not book a room here again.

Spent one night here and it was very nice and clean. The bed in the room was amazingly comfortable, pretty firm but that’s what I like. Unfortunately the roll away which we also used just needs to be thrown away. It’s better to just say you don’t have one when the mattress is that bad. The breakfast was very good with made to order eggs and bacon, cereal, meats, cheeses yogurt and fruit. No air conditioning but it cooled down nicely in the evening. There are no screens on the windows so thankfully it was not buggy. Bathrooms were nice and clean. Friendly and laid back staff, spoke enough English to make it all work. Price was just a little higher than I would expect but for a business trip, was ok. I would stay again on business but not with my family.

The guesthouse , for me not a hotel. Is very pleasant and great in the centre of the town. The church is next door so be aware that the bells ring. The rooms are all clean and tidy and really with the essentials ; bed desk, good hot shower and or bath, mini bar. There is a bar that opens when reception is on, and no evening meals. The breakfast is excellent typical fare of eggs and cold cuts and cheeses and fruits and cereals. All very good. Always happy to hear when I am booked in here again.
