Murray Circle Restaurant is one of Northern California's top culinary destinations.
I love this hotel. It is a spectacular location just over the Golden Gate Bridge and dripping in history. I've stayed here many times and the service is always stellar. The spa is gorgeous and provides excellent services. They have bikes to borrow. The rooms are interesting. Because it is an historic hotel, the rooms arrangements can be a bit unexpected, but that's part of the charm. Their contemporary rooms are more like hotel rooms, but make sure you ask for the view! My one gripe (hence the 4 vs. 5 stars) is that the restaurant, Murray Circle is a disaster with regard to reservations. For a 5-star luxury resort, this is unacceptable. It is so disappointing to organize a special weekend and then have the dinner plans fall apart. This isn't entirely the fault of the hotel, but I'd expect them to be on top of this since it affects the overall experience and is a service provided by most 5-star resorts. This is something that needs to be fixed!

Perched hillside overlooking a breathtaking seaside bay-view in the charming city of Sausalito, Casa Madrona provides a transformative and serene retreat for travelers from around the world. More than 125 years after its inception, the timeless and beloved icon continues to express an innate sense of style, seamlessly blending innovation with tradition and offering a genuine luxury escape just minutes from San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge. In 2014, the property underwent a multimillion-dollar renovation that brought a renewed energy to the guest rooms, cottages, meeting space and the extraordinary 11-room Mansion, including the property's signature 5,000 square-foot master residence, The Alexandrite Suite. Casa Madrona Hotel & Spa is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a treasured landmark and based on its historical features and unique layout, please note that room sizes, configurations and views may vary from our standard room type descriptions. Photos shown on the Casa Madrona website do not necessarily depict each and every room type available at the hotel and we cannot guarantee you will placed in the exact room, seen in the images, linked to the room type booked.
The hotel is located right on Bridgeway, the main street in town, so any shopping or eating you want to do is walking distance away. Our room was very nice and the small balcony opened up onto Bridgeway which we also liked. The staff was very friendly each time we saw them but I have two minor complaints which I'm only bringing up because they didn't follow up on what they said they would. First, we got to the hotel early and our room wasn't ready. They said they'd text us when it was. They never did. Second, we left our bags with them while we walked around town waiting for the room to get ready and they said they'd put them in our room so they'd be there waiting for us. They didn't do this. Both of these are minor and they aren't playing into my points below. There were charges on our bill that we weren't expecting and I feel like they were added as a way for the hotel to pad its revenue. We had two "resort fees," totaling $97 for our two-night stay. I can't imagine what this covered. The treadmill I used for 45 minutes? The fire pit I had to uncover myself? If so, I'd take the $97 and exercise somewhere else and not sit by the fire pit. There isn't a pool manned by a staff handing out clean towels. There isn't a "happy hour" with drinks and horse d'oeuvres, or the use of bicycles. The bed was very comfortable, the bathroom was big, the shower had nice power. I have no complaints about the rooms at all.

Hotel Sausalito is a historic building in the middle of downtown Sausalito. Built in 1915, the mission style building stands in the heart of Sausalito over looking Vina Del Mar Park. After a complete renovation in 1996, Hotel Sausalito is decorated with custom made wrought iron bed frames, faux finsh walls in 3 warm colors and art work that helps compliment the feel of having a little of the French Riviera in Sausalito. With 14 bedrooms and 2 suites, this romantic Hotel is the perfect place to stay for business or pleasure. Guests park in the City parking lot adjacent to the Hotel, for a fee of $20.00 per day. Family owned and run, gives Hotel Sausalito a personal touch.
Stayed here for three nights. Very pleasant. Nice view of the bay and the main street. Centrally located and very quiet. Friendly staff. Parking close by. Robin was very helpful. And thank you to Matthew: our smoke alarm began chirping around dinner time, and Matthew had remedied the problem by the time we got back to our room.

Indulge yourself… The Gables Inn Sausalito welcomes you! Perfectly located in a quiet setting amongst a small grove of Buckeye trees on Princess Street, but only a minute walk to the San Francisco Ferry, art galleries, and world-class restaurants in the center of downtown Sausalito. In contrast to the activity in the nearby shops along Bridgeway Street, guests are immersed in tranquility by our peaceful location and setting. Return from your daily activities to relax around the fireplace and socialize or unwind in your exquisite room submerged in the oversized bathtub with spa jets. The spectacular amenities will inspire and re energize. Our genuine passion for providing a wonderful guest experience is evidenced in the brilliantly personalized service and attention to detail. It is our pleasure to host your next visit to Sausalito.
If you are looking for a place to lay your head for the night, the Gables Inn will do. If you are looking for an “experience”, I recommend you look elsewhere! Rooms are badly outdated with tons of deferred maintenance. Carpet was pretty badly stained in many areas. Very little in the form of amenities here. The biggest issue for me was the non-existence of their famed “wine & cheese hour” or “delicious continental breakfast”. Apparently, they quietly stopped offering these perks sometime in the past few months. I re-checked their website and found no mention of wine hour or breakfast — that being said, it is ALL OVER THE INTERNET that they provide a wine reception in the evening and a nice breakfast in the mornings. I know the hotel is not responsible for what others post online, but it seems a bit disingenuous to coast off of old reviews. When I asked about breakfast, the lady working acted as if it was a ridiculous question…. No explanation, no apology, not even a suggestion of somewhere to eat instead. It really left a bad taste in my mouth, and next time I visit Sausalito I will be staying somewhere else.
