The quiet town of Riebeek West is a hidden gem – nestled among olive groves and vineyards, it’s the perfect escape from ‘normal’ life. A gem within a gem, Ruby Rose is the newest addition to one of the oldest towns in the Western Cape. Part of unwinding on a vacation – whether it’s a weekend or a week – is being able to be yourself, and that’s exactly what we encourage at Ruby Rose Guesthouse. When the vibrancy of chic city living meets the surrounds of peaceful country life, you simply can’t help but let your hair down. Guests of Ruby Rose who choose not to venture out can splash about at the pool, relax in the outdoor lounge under the shaded veranda, and sling back a few speciality gin cocktails at our very own Gin Bar. Each spacious, elegantly decorated room at this magical guesthouse is equipped with aircon, a coffee machine, DSTV, and rainfall shower heads.
This is undoubtedly the best place to stay in, at Riebeeck West. It is beautiful, clean, comfortable, safe and secure. The garden is amazing. I would not mind staying there again, for a longer period.

Merindol Manor is one of the oldest heritage homes in the picturesque wine and olive producing Riebeek Valley in the heart of the Swartland, about an hour’s drive from Cape Town in South Africa. Once a stately family home, now a lovingly restored boutique guesthouse, Merindol Manor has landscaped gardens, its own olive grove and freshly-picked fruit and vegetables from its bountiful gardens. Breakfast eggs are collected from the fluffy hens each morning. The four spacious double rooms have crisp white linen and en-suite facilities. Each room has a mountain, pool or garden view. There is WiFi throughout and the Manor’s Littlest Library is lovingly stocked with both French and South African literature, including comic books for small people. Your hands-on host at Merindol Manor is the affable Vincent. After 17 years in the banking world of Geneva, London and Luxembourg, he founded a tourism business in his homeland of Belgium. Vince moved to South Africa in 2016 and loves to share his passion for travel, cycling, good food and wine with his guests. Riebeek Valley is in the wine-producing Swartland – a region known for its world-class Shiraz and award-winning Chenin wines. The valley is also home to a host of independent olive oil producers. The luxury guesthouse is the perfect hub to explore the surrounding regions such as the quaint fishing village of Paternoster on the West Coast which is a 45 minutes drive away, the lush winelands of Stellenbosch and Franschhoek, also 45 minutes away and then the rugged Cederberg mountains which is an hour’s drive away. And then it’s only an hour to the city of Cape Town and the V&A Waterfront for the bustling city experience. Return at the end of the day to the peaceful Manor an authentic Swiss fondue prepared by Vince. Merindol is the place to relax, explore the local restaurants and wineries and enjoy a peaceful time in the scenic countryside.
We enjoyed e short stay in the wonderful unique Merindol Manor. We were welcomed and treated like friends. This is the right place to recover from busy days. Harmony in garden and house. E delicious healthy breakfast. What more you want. We will certainly come back

Bush Baby Forest Lodge is situated in the centre of Knysna across the road from the Knysna Shopping Mall with free off street parking. We have 11 chalets nestled into an indigenous Forest garden, each decorated individually with African Art and pieces to give you a true African Experience. Our newly renovated lodge will give you comfort away from home. Chalets are serviced daily and true South African breakfast is served to give you a great start to the day. An info and tourist centre in our office will give you all the advice and guidance for what to do and where to go and explore. We have double and family chalets with a stunning garden. A braai area with picnic tables will also give you a true South African Experience. We are in the centre of the Garden Route, a perfect place to stay while you explore this area known as the Paradise Coast.
We spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed it. We weren’t quite sure what to expect but the bed was lovely and comfortable and everything in the bathroom worked. This is glam camping so we didn’t expect perfection. The cabins are nestled between mature trees and shady gardens with lots of green ferns etc. There is a communal kitchen that is well equipped and even a communal fridge if the one in the cabin isn’t big enough. A big plus is the convenient location, it’s easy to find, there is a supermarket across the road and along Main Street there are plenty of restaurants, bars and local businesses. It is also well located to get the numerous attractions around the area, from the modern Waterfront Marina to the various nature reserves and elephant/bird parks. We hired mountain bikes locally and explored the area on two wheels. We spoke to the young guy who only took over the business a few months ago and I’m sure his ideas will filter through into an even better experience for his guests.
