Light Shields needed in Parking Lot

Reviewed By ko467

Good stay overall. Friendly and helpful staff. The primary reason I'm writing this is to request that light shields be installed on the parking lot lights (especially in the back). This hotel was built on a once pristine bog/wetland. What remains of the wetland is to the back and amazingly still full of animal life. At night you can hear thousands of frogs, toads, birds, etc. The problem is the light from the back parking lot is so bright that it shines a swath onto the bog area throughout the dark of night. These animals need darkness at night. I am humbling asking that at minimum light shields be installed on the back parking lot lights. This is the same sort of thing they have done along the coast in Florida to prevent nesting sea turtles from being draw to light.

Don’t stay at this god-awful place - staff lie to your face and take advantage of you

Reviewed By Sherpa25663298238

Don’t stay at this place - staff don’t have any sense of customer service and they lie to your face. If I could give negative stars like some other reviewers have said, I most certainly would. When I booked the night before my arrival, I was initially offered a motel room, but I specifically asked for a cottage that was a self contained unit not attached to another unit, which I was offered and accepted, only to discover when I checked in that it was actually attached to another unit. We thought it might be ok if the other unit was empty, but later discovered it wasn’t and to our horror the occupants who checked in after us were very noisy (kids jumping on our ceiling nonstop playing video games) and abusive when we politely tried to explain how paper-thin the wall was. When we went to speak with the office, they said all rooms were booked (in fact there were no other vacancies in town at all by this point) and there was nothing they could do. They try to lie to my face that our “cottage” was the only unit available when I booked, even though I was initially offered a motel unit. And when I tried to explain that I would have gone somewhere else if they didn’t lie to me the night before about the “cottage” being self-contained, they really couldn’t care less, lying to my face again that they never confirmed that. These are the same people I personally spoke to on the phone for the booking, so it was just outrageous how they can just lie straight to your face. There was not even a simple apology getting this wrong, they just lied the mistake never happened. If you don’t want to run the risk of noisy neighbors, if you want to deal with decent honest business owners, if you want a clean (carpet was dirty) and functioning room for the night (TV didn’t work and shower knob fell off), stay well away from this god awful place. We didn’t even bother with the sad-looking breakfast and just got out as soon as we could in the morning.

AWFUL PLACE

HORRIBLE customer service. I booked the common man inn and spa as my venue and booked BOTH halls. I was told that the tasting was once a year but not right around the time of my wedding or that I could not go the tasting for this year. I was told I would get a room block of 10 rooms per hall- not told it would be spilt between one night and two night rentals. I needed ONE more two night rental to be able to have my whole bridal party at the venue for the rehearsal and getting ready. THEY WOULD NOT GIVE ME ONE MORE. I even offered to pay for all the rooms I already had then and there since I had assigned them all already but no. I expressed that this would not work for me so they simply said fine well refund you... tried to make it work as I already had put deposit down on other vendors as well and they said I thought you wanted a refund so we are allowing that. I again asked to make it work....days went by no answer, no returned or answered phone calls. As soon as I said fine refund me I got an answer right away that it was refunded. All they care about is your money and not you. Would not even tell my worst enemy to get married here. My new venue said they have been hearing so many complaints about the inn and spa awful customer service lately.

INCREDIBLY DIRTY

Went to the front desk, told no rooms - went to the car and did an online charge. The room is filthy and the sheets stained. Smells like simply green or something - but the bathroom and kitchen floor are slippery from what ever cleaner they used.
