Stayed at this hostal for 2 nights on the 6th and 7th March. The place was unbelievingly clean and although there were no frills, the room was spacious and even had a fridge, t.v. and A/C. If I were to go to Gaucin again, this is the place I would stay in. The restaurant upstairs had been closed for a few months, though, so I cannot comment on the food. 1min in car from the hostal to the top of Gaucin, where we parked and had breakfast every day. One other bonus are the views from the window.

Gaucin, is a beautiful white mountain village, part of the Serrania de Ronda. The Hotel La Fructuosa is in the centre of this lovely village, offering a calm, cozy atmosphere and spectacular views, from each of the five large and comfortable rooms and its terraces, of the Genal Valley and extending to Gibraltar and Morocco. An ancient wine press has been preserved, and is now an original setting for the breakfast room. Breakfast also may be served while enjoying the breathtaking view from the ground floor terrace.
A huge thank you to Daniel and Catherine for helping me to organise a surprise party for 29 guests. Also a massive thank you to José, Arellia, and the rest of the team in the kitchen and front of house. The previously agreed set meal was amazing and all of our guests are talking about how delicious everything was, especially the Iberian pork which was cooked perfectly, and the tastiest pork we have ever had, and.. not to mention the best chocolate coulant! The service on the floor was first class with Arellia, Pili & Loli keeping the food and wine flowing at perfect pace. The hotel terrace (or inside) is the perfect place to entertain guests and we had the most amazing time. Thank you team Fructuosa for making the evening very special. If you are looking for an amazing venue to entertain guests or just to go for a quiet meal then this is the place to go! And, if you are looking for the perfect musician for a party then Marcus Myers is definitely the entertainer you need, he made our evening very special and we danced our feet off! A truly unforgettable evening.

Rustic, cozy, and creative atmosphere in a place of great natural beauty, traditional and organic food, Spa and wellness facilities (jacuzzi, mud bath, sauna, massages, hammam, etc)
I chose this place because it was promoted to be relaxing, with delicious meals and trekking trails. When we arrived with my family of 4, we had to find the receptionist who didn’t come to us but asked us to go where she was, that was really surprising. She told us the kitchen was closed since it was a weekday and if we wanted to eat sth, we could go to the town. I asked her if at least we could use a table to have a snack and she said we should pay extra for using the kitchen area or the tables. I asked her about the trekking trails and she said only one was marked and it wasn’t suitable for children but we could walk through the forest with the risk of getting lost! We arrived to the room and the toilet wasn’t working properly. They came after an hour to “fix it” but it didn’t work out. There weren’t any fans but 2 portable air conditionings that were extremely noisy and wasn’t working properly. We ended up eating with the children in the night table. We spent the night because they don’t have cancellation policy and we left early in the morning. As the receptionist told me they were “very busy trying to prepare the place for the next retreat. So if you decide to go over the week, good luck! It was the worst experience ever.
