Beautiful camping in brilliant scenery
Reviewed By Bert MThis camping is a rather small one on the border of a lake, just outside town. All amenities clean and well kept. Close to the site is a former iron works that is interesting to visit and which reminds you of the forlorn days of mining iron ore and making a burdensome profit out of that. The house of the factory manager oversees both the campsite and the factory.

Welcome to Asphyttan Metta House! We're a Bed & Breakfast (vegan friendly) and a mindful Retreat Center - located in the beautiful area of Bergslagen, Värmland. If you come to stay at our B&B you can choose from 4 different rooms - 3 double rooms and one family room (sleep 4-6 people). ••• Each room is equiped with TV, small fridge, microwave, water boiler and Wifi. And bed linens and towels. ••• We have a communal kitchen where our guests can prepare their own meals. - One double room (the cabin) has a private bathroom. ••• NOTE: that every other room shares two toilets and two showers (located in a seperate building from where the rooms are). ••• If you come to stay at our place you can enjoy yoga classes (we offer drop-in yoga on Mondays & Thursday, 6.30-8 pm), hikes, kayaking, cross skiing, mountain biking etc. Welcome to Asphyttan Metta House, Philippa & Simon

Reviewed By beagivingheartAfter a long days running we ate at the cafe here. It was delicious. Hearty food and ambient atmosphere, the grounds are beautiful and the owners , who are delightful often host yoga retreats also. Vegan and vegetarian options are offered in the cafe. The vegan chocolate cake pictured was amazing along with the curry we ate. There is also a small gift selection to choose from. I want to go back to the cafe and also spend a weekend here.

Saxå Bruk (‘bruk’ means ‘iron works’) is the oldest in the county of Värmland. They date back to 1540, and came into my custody in 1984. Saxå Bruk is beautifully situated by lake Saxen, between the village of Grythyttan and the small town of Filipstad. The manor house with its guest wings and small lake-side little garden folly used for alfresco dining are all meticulously restored to former glory, while renowned interior designer Ernst Kirchsteiger has transformed the old lakeside storehouse into a snug hide away. The buildings are situated in extensive parkland bordering the green of Saxå Golf Club, arguably the most beautiful 18-hole golf course in Sweden. I have decided to open up this historically important private property for visitors, and now have the pleasure to welcome You to stay in one of my historic guestrooms, all of which are individually and charmingly decorated with antiques and complying with modern hotel standard.

Reviewed By Krista KSaxå Bruk is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed in: carefully renovated historical buildings, tastefully decorated rooms which are even better in reality than they look from the photos. The location is excellent - only ca 300 hundred meters from the road no56. The breakfast room, which is the old chapel, was a cherry on the cake. We stayed at the "Workers House" which is ca 150 metres from the manor house. I was initially somewhat disappointed when I got this information, but when I saw the room (6A), full of antiques and view to the lake from all the windows, I was delighted. We enjoyed every minute there and regretted only that our stay was too short. Note: there is no internet at the Workers House. Although it did not bother us as the lake, nature and the whole place is so beautiful, and there is so much to explore but taking into account rather high price range, the internet connection is something you expect to have in your room.

If you, like I, believe that luxury is not golden taps and marble floors but rather fantastic service by someone who is genuinely nice and service minded because she cares about her guests – then this is the place for you.
