We both enjoyed our stay at the Apollo. Our room overlooking the bush was very comfortable and we enjoyed sitting on the balcony listening to the birds, we even had a friendly kookaburra visit. We ate at Babbingtons both mornings for breakfast as they were delicious and very reasonably priced. We had room service one night and the burgers were very tasty. All the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Been will definately stay at Apollo next time we're visiting Newcastle.

Stayed 1 night in family room. Staff were amazing, so friendly. Room size was perfect for our needs, even once the portacot was set up there was still heaps of room to move around. The bathroom door in the family room is a sliding one and needs oiling - makes an almighty noise when opening. To avoid it waking up the baby overnight we had to find the right amount of open that would provide privacy but not result in the noise. Unfortunately I forgot to mention at checkout! We got dinner from the restaurant delivered to the room and it was really tasty and pretty quick. I had the meat pizza and it was delicious. Kids had no complaint about their meals. Sleep quality was reasonable - typical hotel room issues of pillows being either too low or too high and no bed is ever going to be as comfy as home. Buffet breakfast in the restaurant was great - first breakfast buffet I've ever been to where the pancakes and waffles weren't rock hard, they were lovely and fluffy still.

We stayed in a 2 bedroom plus (or 3 bedroom) apartment, husband and I, our daughter and husband’s parents. Unit #7, which was at the back and away from the traffic. When we arrived it was easy to get in, was provided a PIN code by text so didn’t have to line up to check in. Instructions were to park in the single garage, but unfortunately our Ford Ranger Ute didn’t fit. We wouldn’t have been able to close the garage door. Grandparents parked their Mazda 3 and had plenty of room and we found street parking right out the front. Bedrooms were as described on the website. Grandparents and daughter took upstairs 2 bedrooms as we didn’t want our little one so far away from us during the night. Husband and I had the extra bedroom downstairs, which wasn’t a problem. Everyone had to walk through it on our way in and out but it was really no fuss. We all went to bed at the same time and it was quiet, despite there being no dedicated door to the ground floor. The stairs were a bit hard to get used to for people who aren’t used to them, but they were as described. Would not recommend for folks who may struggle. Ceilings appeared to be quite high, which meant lots of stairs! Would not recommend if you’d struggle with that. Baby gates were supplied, which would have been handy with little ones. The not so good: - when we arrived and opened the garage door, we saw a number of cockroaches scatter. There were a few around the apartment which I believe is fairly normal for the area - the place was very dusty, you could see quite a thick layer on the floors coming up the stairs. Lots of dust bunnies where it could gather, under the furniture and around the stair railings. - carpet didn’t appear to be vacuumed on the top floor when we arrived. - some dirty dishes, glasses, mugs and cutlery Would have expected cleaning staff pay a bit more attention to detail or be given more time to be thorough. All in all, good value as it was quite cheap.

An affordable, comfortable, conveniently located motel in Charlestown. Less than 5 minutes to the region's two largest shopping centers. 5-10 minutes to Lake Macquarie, Newcastle CBD and the best beaches Newcastle has to offer. We have 14 double/twin/triple rooms accommodation up to 3, 4 family room (the largest accommodation up to 5) and a two bedroom unit accommodation up to 7.
I’ve only ever seen motels as bad as this in other countries. Cockroaches everywhere. Putrid smells right through the room. The floor was so dirty you must wear shoes everywhere otherwise your socks would end up black with filth. Basic wiping and cleaning of surfaces clearly hadn’t been done in months. I’ve never done this before - but I have contacted the local council to let them know that there is a major health hazard issue with this establishment. They need to shut down this place as a matter of urgency.

We arrived to find an extremely different apartment to the one in the promotional images. There were old cobwebs hanging from the ceiling, the walls were absolutely filthy, light fixtures were dangling from their sockets, all but two light bulbs blown on the stairwell, the lock for the sliding door to the garage was not just broken but missing, leaving a hole where the lock should be, holes in the walls, filthy windows... I could go on, but you get it. I rang straight after the viewing the property and told them we were leaving. To someone's credit, they did refund us but despite me telling them everything that was wrong with the place, the listed and presumably sold it again that night. I'm not sure there's much concern with the quality of their service. Avoid at all costs.
