Our annual golf trip in June to Lancaster was obviously cancelled this year but we were lucky enough to rebook for August. Our party of eight made the annual pilgrimage across the M62 to play this fantastic golf course, staying in the Dormy house, part of this historic castle. This golf holiday has been running for 60 years without a break, 28 years for myself. Niall and Sandra welcomed us again this year. Better hosts you will not find, their attention to detail is impeccable. Niall in front of house is a master of his trade. This year there were clear and concise instructions for our movements within the clubhouse. All the neccessary social distancing measure were in place for both dining and beverages in the bar, with carefully placed sanitising stations, for our convenience. The rooms have had a makeover and are now more than adequate for a sporting holiday. We were served a variety of excellent food, a tribute to Sandras culinary skills. One would think after playing 8 rounds in the visit every year reading of the greens would be assumed simple; fat chance! It's what makes this course such a challenge. Although the areas off the fairway are ball findable the punisment comes from strategically placed trees and a depth of rough to make it difficult. For a holiday to run 60 years speaks volumes for it's high quality both on and off the course. David Sutcliffe and his wife will always be missed in the proshop with their large selection of products both new and used. It always felt we were returning home after a year away. The pro shop is adequately stocked and organised. We will return again next year to enjoy this Gem of a holiday and superb Bombardier, or is it bomb-a-dier? Well done Lancaster Golf Club!

We called to see if we could use the driving range, everyone was so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. We didn't really know what we were doing or where to go as the range is away from the course but from the staff to the members we didn't need to worry as we were made very welcome.
