Rock UK Summit Centre

Formerly the Welsh International Climbing Centre, it is built on the site of the former Trelewis drift mine which closed in 1989. The climbing walls are up to 18 metres high with over 180 climbing routes in the main climbing centre plus an additional bouldering area. Summit Centre has many activities including Archery, Aerial Adventure, Water sports, Caving and Climbing. If you not a climber, no worries, we offer climbing taster sessions, climbing courses, NICAS courses. If you have children we run activities during the half terms, these activities start from as little as £10.

I'm a fairly regular visitor by bicycle to the Centre. I cannot fault it. It is on a network of traffic-free tarmac cycle and walking trails all through the Valleys. I'm too old (77) for traffic and the open road these days. Use these with the help of the local railways and it is all great. I live in Cardiff and train to Hengoed - ride to the cafe here and then home - some of the best riding now in my sixty years on the bike. Cafe does really good snacks, tea and coffee. Staff always pleasant. The only complaint that I have is the religious ethos. Staff wear the slogan "Who do you trust?" the implication being that you can only trust God I assume. Rather negative to me and not life-affirming. A better slogan might be to trust everyone you meet - 99% of people in life don't let you down. Anyway, well done The Summit Centre. I''l keep coming as long as I'm able.

Vertigo Trampoline Park

Cant fault the place, was a bit nervous going during covid but children really wanted to go. But all rules were enforced. All spaced out with 2m rule and staff was seen cleaning constantly. Foam pits are closed due to covid and lockers but rules are rules park cant be blamed I suppose. This place has has so many bad comments just wanted to add a good comment as only bad ones ever seem to be posted and not enough good ????
