I love watching the boats go through the canal from huge ships to small craft. There is a special viewing park in Port Colborne and St. Catherines plus an information and display building.

Historical Bridge 13 was constructed in Bridge 13 between 1927 and 1930. It was a lift bridge that allowed ships to pass through. Following the closure of the canal at the end of the 1972 shipping season, Bridge 13 was locked permanently in the lowered position. On July 1st, 2015 Bridge 13 lit up in its new LED colour changing lights.
Went for a walk near this historical bridge around 9:45 PM. Beautifully lit up at night. There are nice walking paths on both sides of the bridge/canal. Very relaxing. Can get quite busy though during warm months. I moved here from Windsor,ON., a year and a half ago. From what I've heard, this bridge is loved by most people here.

To say I was surprised to taste the savoury and delicious fries at this little walk-up window fry shop is an understatement. A perfectly fried potato with a vast assortment of authentic New York state toppings including salt, vinegar, and ketchup. The hard scrabble exterior of the mall gives a post-apocalyptic vibe and could be the setting of any zombie movie made in the early 2000s. The mall itself is replete with the finest of stores and the food court, where this particular NY Fries is located features an array of exciting options. But none will top the delicious fritters cooked here. It's a must see attraction in Welland and I'm shocked that it only ranks 11th in Trip Advisor's attractions list for the city.
