6 Free Things to do in Nairn That You Shouldn't Miss

June 16, 2021 Kelli Reichel

Thanks to its unique micro-climate, Nairn gets more hours of sunshine and less rainfall than other towns just a few miles away. Thankfully, this combination of abundant sun and no rain provide the perfect weather conditions for golf, as Nairn boasts two 18-hole championship courses. (And if you have time on your hands, there are 30 more courses within 60 miles.) Don't miss the town's jazz and film festivals, the latter of which was started by Nairn resident and actress Tilda Swinton (you'd know her if you saw her).

Nairn Beach

Reviewed By VoyageVogage123 - Bangor, United Kingdom

Beautiful expanse of beach with the harbour in one direction and a children’s playground in the other, complete with sand dunes to sit and relax with your picnic. We parked near the coop and it was free parking too, as was the harbour. Nairn a lovely place to visit - you can finish your beach visit with a stroll round the town itself.

Dulsie Bridge

After you’ve crossed the beautiful bridge there’s a little place to park and a big bit of green grass that has picnic tables to sit at next to some trees I’d the weather is nice enough. There’s a path you can follow that leads you to a perfect location for the ideal photo of the bridge. It’s wonderful and definitely worth the stop if you’re passing!

The Secret Beach

Reviewed By SarahMcdd - Glasgow, United Kingdom

When i lived in inverness as a wee girl , my parents would take us here once a week in summer, many happy memories. sadly living in glasgow means we cannot visit as often as we'd like. Most recent visit was in august of 2018. seems slightly busier than it used to be but certainly still lovely. The kids had a great time swimming. spoke to a few dog walkers in passing, all very friendly. Sadly the negative reviews seem to be left by the type of nasty local that is just overly possessive. such attitudes are probably why nairn was so run down and decrepit the last few times we visited
